Chapter 38: Coming Together

[ Third Person POV ]
Eight of the commanders from the Hidden Leaf were sitting on couches along with the temporary boss of Hidden Mist, Isobu. Neji was the one in charge of the operation,
"Have there been any changes"
Kurama shook her head,
"None"
Isobu added some information,
"That's fair bit the Hidden Cloud should be the easiest seeing as the bosses younger brother was the one that got kidnapped"
Kurama started another fact,
"Then again, the groups haven't made contact on such a long time because Hidden Cloud are so damn stubborn"
Neji muttered,
"Damn"
Tenten was becoming desperate,
"Why don't we charge into their territory"
Sai shook his head,
"The only reason we were able to get in here was because the leader was gone. Walk into there now and it'll be like signing our own death warrants"
Neji sighed,
"We just have to wait"
Ino was sounding stressed,
"How can we wait when we don't even know how much time we have left"
Isobu sighed,
"I would love to contact them as much as you do but you all know..."
Everyone said the same thing,
"...bosses are the only ones that can contact the other groups"
"Exactly"
They went over that fact many times because that idea kept coming up. There was even a time where they thought of kidnapping important people to make them work with them. That would violate the thousand years contract and the outcome of that wouldn't be pleasant. It happened before. Hidden Grass violated the thousand years contract and the whole group except on was killed. They all sighed,
"The only thing we can do is wait"
The only problem with that plan it time. Like any other game time is the most important thing and they didn't know the time limit.

Sasuke was looking out of the classroom window thinking about Naruto. He was worried that something might have happened. Sasuke noticed that Shino get regular calls. Sasuke started thinking out loud,
"The calls are probably about the plan they're coming up with"
Sasuke thought about Naruto as classes passed by him.

Sasuke was still thinking about Naruto while he was walking home. His mind was filled with thoughts of Naruto and Sasuke couldn't do anything about it. Sasuke was whispering his thought out loud like no one was listing.

Shino was still following Sasuke when he heard Sasuke mutter something.
"Maybe I should look for Naruto to get rid of this feeling"
Shino thought that what Sasuke said was a big achievement to getting their relationship back on the right track.

Sasuke had a break. For the first time in a while he had a break. His day was not filled with his usual classes nor did any of his teachers assign homework. Sasuke decided that he was going to use this day to look for Naruto. Sasuke drove to the closet cities and walked around.

Sasuke sighed in disappointment as he opened his apartment door.
"I couldn't find him anywhere"
Shino watched Sasuke the whole day and had a great idea.
"Sasuke"
Sasuke turned around harshly,
"What"
"Do you want to look for Naruto that badly"
"Hn"
Shino guessed that Sasuke said yes and continued.
"Than join us"
Sasuke didn't say anything and Shino took that as another yes.
"Skip school and look all over Japan"
Sasuke scowled,
"I was planing to"
"Listen Sasuke"
"Hn"
"The other groups don't know anything about you besides you last name so you have to be our inside agent"
"What"
"We can't enter the other groups territory besides Hidden Mist so we need you to go into the other ones"
"Hn"
A sweat drop fell from Shino's face,
'Naruto really is the only one who can understand him'

Neji was getting a call while they were eating dinner.
"Who is it"
Neji checked the Caller ID and Shino's name. He picked up the call,
"Shino"
Neji listened to Shino's every word.

Neji put the phone down on the table. Shikamaru leaned back in his chair,
"What did Shino say"
"Sasuke spent the whole day looking for Naruto"
Kiba swallowed the food in his mouth,
"And why is that important"
Isobu golfed his hands,
"They don't know what Sasuke looks like so he can walk into other territories without being noticed"
Kurama had a dark smile,
"Now we're getting somewhere"
Sai put his chopsticks down,
"What about guarding him"
Choji shrugged,
"No one's seen Shino's face so I think everything will be fine"
Tenten continued eating,
"Problems solved"

Sasuke skipped his classes and went around Japan searching for the place were the Akatsuki his Naruto.  Shino followed Sasuke everywhere he went looking around trying to find a secret door. They looked though half of Japan and found no sign of the captives.

Shino remember that Kurama had said something about having the other groups in debt. Shino could picture the the dark smile on Kurama's face while he said that. Shino sighed and continued followed Sasuke wherever he was going.

All of the captives were focused on the clock counting the hours as they go by with the occasional conversation between one or two of them. They knew that they have been in there for two week and maybe a week in darkness. All of them hadn't been feeling well for the past day. That was expected because the only thing they got to eat was canned peaches. Fuu was the first to collapse. Han felt he forehead,
"Looks like she came down with a fever"
Gaara coughed a few times,
"Won't be long before we all catch it"
Naruto sneezed,
"All of us got it already"

One after another the captives started collapsing with a fever. Dugs, medicines, and poisons don't work on any of them meaning they all have to tough it out. They have nothing they could use to help them get other the fever. If they don't get help any time soon they could end up dying from a simple fever. The time limit has changed and it's working in the Akatsuki's favor.
