I walked through the school corridor with my head down like usual. People ignored me as usual and I wondered if things would go back to the way they were.

Louis saved me yesterday. Getting into that fight with Matthew was extremely brave of him, although I can't help but wonder if that was just a one time thing. Maybe he will go back to ignoring me like everyone else? Maybe what he said about liking me was just a heat of the moment thing that meant nothing.

"Hey Y/N, where's your lover boy?" I heard Matthews familiar voice call.

I continued to walk, expecting to be pushed into the nearest wall any minute only to feel a gentle hand on my shoulder.

"Hey, leave her alone you prick."

I looked up to see Liam standing next to me, a gentle hand on my shoulder as Zayn joined him on the other side of me.

"What did you just call me?" Matthew asked.

"You heard him," Zayn growled as Matthew scoffed at them both before walking away.

"Bullies are cowards they say," Liam mumbled, turning to face me with a smile.

"Hey don't look so worried love, he's not going to hurt you." Zayn reassured me.

"Why are you guys defending me? Why do you even care?" I asked, weakly.

"Because your vulnerable and were not the type of people to take advantage of that. You seem lonely and Louis seems to like you." Liam explained.

"Why don't you join us? Hang out with us, we've been in the same position as you before." Zayn explained, gesturing for me to follow them.

"Okay." I said, simply. Still not sure about why they suddenly wanted to protect me.

We walked towards the canteen, sitting down in one of the booths along with Harry and Niall who I hadn't even noticed were there.

"I just don't get it. Why don't you guys just ignore me like everyone else? Why would you want to get involved if you've been through it before yourselves?" I asked, questions filling my mind.

"Because, Y/N. We've all been alone like that before. Where no one seemed to care and we were bullied and pushed around, but once we met each other, we stuck together and fought back. Now he doesn't bother us anymore." Liam explained.

"He?" I questioned.

"Matthew. He's bullied all of us before." Harry joined in, giving me a reassuring smile.

"All individually until we met each other," Niall laughed lightly.

"When we became friends, he continued to push us around until Louis convinced us all we needed to stick up for ourselves and each other to be able to get on with our lives." Zayn added.

"Louis was determined to get Matthew off of our backs and he certainly succeeded." Liam smiled.

"Guys, no need for the sob story," We looked up to be met with Louis leaning against the side of the booth.

"We were wondering when you were going to show up." Liam laughed, patting his back as he joined us.

As soon as Louis arrived, everyone seemed much happier. Even I did. There was just something about him.

"Y/N, are you okay? Matthew didn't bother you today, did he?" Louis asked concerned.

"Well I had a bit of a run in with him but Liam and Zayn were there." I smiled at them gratefully.

The rest of the day I felt much happier in my lessons. I didn't have any with Matthew but he usually waits outside for me and bully's me. Although he hasn't today. The only people waiting for me were the boys and I couldn't be more thankful for them.

"Y/N, can I talk to you for a minute?" Louis asked after I'd finished my last lesson.

"Sure," I smiled at him, noticing the rest of the boys weren't with him.

"I'll walk you home so we can talk." Louis offered and I shook my head at how adorable he was.

"Okay, thank you," I blushed. I couldn't believe someone could actually care so much.

"No problem." He smiled weakly, although there was something off with him. He wasn't his usual, happy, sassy self.

"What's wrong?" I asked. Now it was my turn to be concerned.

"Is it Matthew? Has he been bothering you guys?" I asked and he shook his head.

"No, it's something else. Your an amazing person Y/N and it's been cool to hang out with you and get to know you more. There's much more to you than people think. Your not just a shy, quiet girl, your an amazing, confident, beautiful person and you hid who you are because of Matthew. He took that away from you." Louis smiled sympathetically.

Wow. How can someone be so emotional about my well-being? He hadn't talked to me until yesterday.

"Louis...why do you care so much?" I asked, touched that he was so emotional about this.

"Because, Y/N, I really like you, like I said. I've seen you around before and I thought you were beautiful, but I never knew just how beautiful your personality could be. I just- I want to protect you and," he paused. "I want us to act like more than friends." He mumbled the last part.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Yesterday, I asked you to be my girlfriend and you agreed, but I haven't really had the chance to treat you like one today because of the other boys." He explained, intertwining our fingers.

I blushed, nervously. I'd never really had anyone show this much interest before and especially not someone as sweet as louis.

"We can take things slow, but I just want you to know that I genuinely do care about you. I never really acted on my liking for you before because you never paid me much attention. I thought you just didn't like anyone until I heard you were being bullied. Then I saw it for myself and well...you know what happened." He smiled.

"Louis, I didn't mean to make you feel like I didn't pay attention. I just never expected this. I do like you too though and this morning when I didn't see you, I thought you just didn't mean what you said yesterday..," I trailed off, imagining what it would've been like if Louis hadn't have meant anything.

"Oh Y/N, why would you think that?" Louis asked, squeezing my hand gently.

"Because you just seemed too good to be true." I blushed.

He stopped in his tracks, gently pulling me towards him for a hug. He wrapped his arms around my shoulders as I wrapped mine around his waist.

"I promise to protect you and love you Y/N, you don't have to hide yourself away anymore." He whispered, kissing my forehead sweetly. I've never felt so loved.

"L-love?" I stuttered.

Louis eyes widened at what he had just said as a smirk played on his lips.

"Love? Did I say that?" He asked, knowing full well that he did.

"Yes you did." I laughed.

"I-I just meant, uh, well," louis stuttered.

"Catch me if you can!" He yelled suddenly, changing the subject as he ran away from me.

I laughed, he was so adorable. I've never met anyone who truly understood me better than I did and for that I was sincerely grateful.

My own little sob story that no one really cares about:
Guys, please check out my Harry imagines if you haven't already <3 I would be so grateful, college has been so uncomfortable for me recently and I'm just fed up. Writing is my way of forgetting about my worries so I truly am touched when people comment lovely things and vote instead of reading and not really caring. I understand how other readers feel too and I always try to vote and comment on the works I read because they're genuinely amazing and people deserve recognition. It makes me feel loved when people notice me on wattpad because in reality, no one does.
