(Jen's POV)

I rubbed my eyes, trying to forget the blood and gore that had just unfolded before me. Mason and I had been watching the Walking Dead all day. As Austin and I grew more comfortable with Mason, we'd grown to trust him. Mason and I stayed on the bus while everyone else went out and partied. It was good for the both of us; I had to learn to trust again, and Austin had to go out and act like any other guy his age. It was what we both needed.

Mason's knee brushed mine as he uncrossed his legs and extended them forward. My hands trembled a bit. He smirked at me, noticing my body shake slightly. I could never hide my nervousness.

"You alright?" He chuckled. I smiled shyly and nodded.

"Yeah, just a bit cold." I tried to play it off the best I could, biting my lip.

Mason took my hands in his and rubbed them together. I looked down at my lap, trying to hide my red cheeks.

"Better?" He asked. I nodded again, smiling like an idiot.

Mason smirked at me, narrowing his eyes a bit and making me shake a bit more. "What's your favorite song?" He asked.

I shrugged, considering all the great songs the guys had introduced me to since I've known them. "That's a really hard question." I giggled. I guess it'd have to be Kings and Queens by 30 Seconds to Mars. That song is so damn beautiful." Mason nodded.

"It is a pretty good song. But have you ever listened to Celeste by Ezra Vine?" I shook my head and he stared at me with his mouth agape, but still smiling. "Jennifer Carlile, you are so fucking lucky we met today. The Walking Dead and now Ezra Vine? What would you do without me?"

"Okay, the Walking Dead was terrifying." I retorted.

"But you enjoyed it."

"Maybe I did. Just show me the damn song." I laughed, handing him the AUX chord.

The instrumental beginning filled the room. Mason jumped up from his seat and started dancing like an idiot. I shook my head and laughed. He grabbed the remote and began singing into it as if it were a microphone.

I was sitting in a field of pine trees, coaxing the words from the earth and the dirt

I sought a muse but the words just wouldn't come

The song was lovely, but Mason was far lovelier. I wanted nothing more than for him to grab my hands and remind me that I wasn't as broken as I thought I was.

I'd never felt this way before. The feeling was strange, but I kind of liked it.

Mason reached the chorus and began jumping around, strongly resembling Dad when he played his shows. I laughed again, trying to cover up my awkwardness.

You're something out of a dream

Messing with my head

And I've been looking for you

Are ya hiding?

Cause I like the way you're calling to me

Your spell upon me

You're something out of a dream

And I like it, though I fight it

It seemed like this song was written specifically about him. He was one of those guys you'd see on the Pintrest boards of 12 year old girls. And I was just...me.

He jumped up on the coffee table in front of the couch, leaning over me. I craned my neck to look in his eyes. His face hovered a few inches over mine. He wiggled his eyebrows as he sang the next lines.

My girl's a switchblade

A bright light on a cityscape

Wherever she goes, I'm gonna chase

Suddenly, he dropped the remote and put his hand on my cheek and kissed me. It wasn't a kiss I'd ever had before. He didn't shove his tongue down my throat and he didn't grab my ass. We just held our lips together and kissed, as the song continued to play.

You're something out of a dream

Messing with my head

The taste of the popcorn and M&Ms we'd eaten earlier lingered in his mouth, and I was thankful that I'd opted for fruit for breakfast instead of fearing what he was tasting from me.

He stepped off the coffee table and I wrapped my arms around his neck and held him closer, as he moved his other hand to my face as well.

"You're beautiful, Jen. And I think I like you." He whispered, before kissing me again the very same way.

It was like a scene from one of those cheesy romance movies. Meeting, him singing to me, the kiss with a beautiful song playing. Everything was coming together.

"Hey, Jen. We're ba-holy shit." Austin said as he walked through the doorway of the bus, sober.

I pulled away from this kiss, staring wide eyed at my father. "Why aren't you drunk?" I asked, fighting the urge to laugh at the fact that it was my first question to him.

"They needed a driver and I pulled the short stick." He looked at me skeptically, and I no longer wanted to laugh. "I think the better question is, what have you been doing today?"

"Mr. Carlile, I can promise you that-" Mason began to say. Austin held up a hand.

"I didn't ask you, son."

I shook my head, stepping forward. "Daddy, I swear that we didn't do anything. We just kissed. It didn't even happen until about five minutes before you walked in."

He looked down at me, seriously, making me shiver. He held out his pinkie. "Promise?"

I smiled, and hooked my pinkie with his. "Fucking promise."

Austin shifted his gaze to Mason. "Now you, we're gonna be in this area for another day. Come back tomorrow around 10 in the morning. I'm gonna have some hungover guys with plenty of questions for you."

I imagined a hungover Alan and Mike trying to learn everything about my potential boyfriend.

Ah, fuck.

Kinda wanted a cute chapter and I feel like Jen needed someone like this. I hope you like Mason, because he's here to stay.

Chapter song- Celeste by Ezra Vine

I try to add the songs, but a lot of them won't play for copyright issues. It pisses me the fuck off. If you come across a chapter with a song like this, I encourage you to look it up and listen to it later.
