When we arrived back at the gym, it was still pretty early and the first-year boys didn't burn as much energy as they needed to.

"Alright, let's practice for a while with some games," The boys immediately went to change into their practice wear. "Y/n-chan, come here please." I turned to Ukai, a curious look on my face.

"What's up, Coach?"I was already taking off my manager sweater to reveal a tank top underneath.

"Remember when I said I'd talk to the other coaches for you?" I nodded as anxiety slowly clouded my mind. What if none of them wanted me? I was stupid to even entertain the idea. They would all be busy with their teams. "Calm down, I can see the worry on your face," Ukai said, placing a reassuring hand on my shoulder.

"Then what happened?"

"Some of them were quite impressed with what they saw of you in the practice matches that you played when Hinata and Kageyama weren't there, however, they want to see some more before they agree to take you on, especially considering you were injured not too long ago. Specifically the Shinzen coach. I am sure you know that he is a new coach to the team and isn't aware of your skills at your old high school. That being said, he was probably the most interested. After the qualifiers, at the next set of practice tournaments, he wants to watch you play again." I stood in shock, my mouth agape and my eyes wide. I couldn't believe it, this is what I had been waiting for. Nothing was guaranteed yet but this was my chance at doing what I loved again.

"Thank you so much! You are the best, Coach!" I jumped up and hugged him quickly as Ukai stumbled slightly at the sudden weight. In my excitement, I got down and started skipping around the gym. Ukai shook his head at me with a smile on his face.

"You deserve it, Y/n-chan. I know what happened with the accident and your mother. I've known for a while. You are incredibly strong and I will be excited to watch you play in the future." That sobered me up quickly. My eyes filled with unshed tears as I hugged Ukai again.

"Thank you, Ukai-san," He patted me on the head before pushing me away.

"Yeah, whatever. Go get changed, you have got to practice as well." I grinned up at him before grabbing my shorts from the bag and heading to the bathroom. My heart was light and I felt like I was flying. That carried over in our games. I felt like I was jumping higher and my spikes were strong as I played in my usual position of wing spiker. Everything appeared brighter and my mind was completely clear. Once we had finished a set in which my team won, Asahi stood beside me.

"What's up? You have been smiling and laughing this whole game. Where is that icy glare that makes your opponents cower in fear?" He asked jokingly, slightly nudging my shoulder. I nudged him back, a smile on my face.

"What, is it throwing you off, Azumane? Can't handle looking at my pretty face?" I bat my eyes up at him as I stepped closer to him. He should have known better than to tease me, I'll embarrass him in front of the entire team.

"Not for long periods of time with you smiling like that. It's blinding." He returned the teasing easily. He had been doing that more and more, but of course, I wouldn't lose.

"Why, would you prefer that I do something else with my mouth?" I continued the same innocent expression on my face as he turned a rather vibrant red. He let out a groan before walking away from me as I let out a loud laugh. I would never get tired of seeing my favourite colour on his face.

Later, after a few more sets and a few more wins for my team, Asahi and I walked home together. It was getting colder and colder as the months progressed. I kept my hand right hand tucked into Asahi's jacket pocket along with his while my left hand was stuffed deep into my own pocket, missing the warmth that my boyfriend provided. I wanted to get home as soon as possible, I don't fare well in the cold and my grumbling about the dropping temperatures had Asahi speed walking alongside me.
