Soon enough, Nationals came and went. The long trip and excitement from Tokyo enabled the boys to put up a fantastic fight for their first time on the Nationals stage. Their final game was hard to watch. Especially as I watched Asahi slowly begin to doubt himself. It was even harder when I watched Hinata struggle from over-exerting himself with a fever. I brought him back to the hotel and made him some food before sending him to sleep with a cold towel on his head to help break the fever. By the time the team came back and announced their loss, I had food prepared for them and comforting hugs ready, though I was hoping they would be hugs of celebration.

"I'm really proud of all of you, you know." I sat with Asahi outside the hotel after we had all finished eating. The boys weren't feeling too social now but that didn't stop me from stealing away my boyfriend.

" I know you are gem, it kind of hurts though. I could have played better. I was constantly getting shut down. I guess I did eventually do what was needed of me as an ace should but if I had done it sooner, maybe we would have won and Hinata wouldn't have had to leave early." He sighed deeply and closed his eyes. I wrapped my arms around him and pulled him close to me.

"Asahi, you did everything just as you were supposed to. You didn't disappoint the team at all. You brought vigour and rose everyone's spirits. Nothing is your fault. Sho-kun would have pushed himself to be as great as he could be regardless. You were both amazing today. Please don't doubt yourself like that, Asahi." I whispered into his neck while he let me hold him. We sat in silence for some time while he pondered over my words.

"You truly mean everything to me, Y/n." His arms made their way around my body, pulling me closer to him.

"Yeah?" I couldn't help but smile at his words.

"Yeah." We sat together like that for a while. I love him. I am totally, one hundred percent in love with him.

"I love you." I hadn't realized I had said it out loud until I felt him stiffen under my hands.  I instantly pulled back and my face was hot. His face was visibly reddening and my hands shook slightly. "Uh, I-I didn't mean to say that out loud. Shit, I'm going to go-" I was up and off the bench in a flash, however, it seemed that Asahi was faster. He gripped my hand and pulled me into his chest.

"I love you too, Y/n. I love you so much." I felt myself melt into him. He loves me and it was so wonderful to feel loved. Even after the loss that had fallen over us, I couldn't help the happiness that was swimming in my chest. He loves me.

"For real?" I asked cautiously. I wanted to hear him say it again.

"Yes. I love you, gem." I pulled him down towards me for a kiss and his arms wound tighter around my body. He loves me.

"If you two are done being disgusting, we want to watch ourselves play in the game." We pulled from each other and saw Tsukki with very evident disgust on his face but a teasing look in his eyes.

"Sorry, Tsukki-Tsukki, did you want one too?" I closed my eyes and puckered my lips dramatically as I walked to him.

"You disgust me," he ran from me back to the hotel room while I chased him with a yelping laugh. When we got to the room, Tsukki took refuge behind Yams who had a very confused look on his face.

"You got lucky this time, Tsukki-Tsukki. You're lucky I love Yams so much,"

"Why is she like this?" I heard Tsukki mumble.

"What was that?"

"Nothing!"

After Nationals, it was time for us third years to retire. The team put together a small party for us where they thanked us for our hard work.
