Third person's POV
Asahi didn't pay much attention to Simon's words until his second year. He still hadn't even considered the idea of dating anyone but he had taken notice of Genvieve. Since it was their second year, bigger projects were taking place. This meant that now, there were set partners for all classes. Pairs were made by the professors to challenge their students with working with different mediums. For one of his classes, his partner for the year was Genvieve.
In class, she sat close to him at their table, her arm brushing his gently. There was a constant blush on her face whenever Asahi was around. She fiddled with her long, blonde hair out of nervousness. Her cerulean blue eyes shone whenever their eyes met. She had been hopelessly infatuated with the boy since she laid eyes on him on the orientation of their first year but he had been none the wiser. At least until halfway through their second year.
It was their midterm project. Aside from their midterm exams, they had a very big project to work on as well. This year, the school partnered with a very well-known bridal boutique to commission the second year's to sketch and design a line of wedding attire for their upcoming Spring collection. The students passed if the boutique kept the design to sell in their store. This gives students a pathway to their own brand if they so desire.
Asahi, who has spent the past year designing luxury fashion, was more than ready for this project. However, Genvieve's detail-orientated and dainty style clashed with the structured way Asahi designed. Asahi sketched his dress and tux with Y/n in mind and the wedding they might have had. Genvieve sketched her outfits with her and the former ace in mind. Obviously, there was a rather significant clash of designs.
They argued for a week. They were both completely unrelenting. They still had three weeks left for the project but their time was quickly being eaten away and they still hadn't settled on a sketch.
They sat in a cafe together with paper scattered around them. They munched on some pastries while staring at each other.
"Genvieve, while your design is very nice, I don't think it is something that everyone would necessarily want."
"Asahi, my dress encompasses Spring beautifully, your dress is geared to the winter. It's heavier with more layers, does that say Spring to you?"
This went on for an hour with several more designs made and plenty of pastries consumed.
"We are getting nowhere with this," Asahi groaned as he ran a hand through his hair, a sign of frustration.
"Then what do you suggest?" She quipped. She was getting frustrated as well. Anything she proposed, he refuted and she did the same to him.
"Let's go for a walk. We'll take a break then come back and design something amazing together." He tied his hair back and gathered their stuff into their shared folder and slid it into his bag. He stood up and held his hand out to her. She hesitated slightly as a blush stained her pretty face. She took his hand and stood beside him. He offered his arm to her before leaving a tip on the table and leaving with her arm entwined around his.
His mind flashed to Y/n and how she used to be the one he offered his arm to. He sighed deeply and pushed the thought from his mind. He still loved her. It's been more than a year since he had last seen her and she still haunted his mind.
Genevieve was very conscious of the heat Asahi was exuding. Her eyes stayed on his stubbled face. His glasses were pushed to the top of his head and his hair was sloppily pulled back, a few strands escaping and framing his face beautifully. How can he be so handsome? She thought to herself. She almost wanted to reach her hand out and brush his hair back. She wanted to run her fingertips over his face so she could memorize his features. She wanted to hold his face between her hands and bring him closer to her. She flushed deeper and looked away from him. I can't think like this! She shook her head slightly unaware that Asahi was watching her from the corner of his eye.
