Dedicated to the one who has keep a steady comment dianekleine
~Chloe~It was break time and only Talfick and I were left in the class. The rest of my classmates were downstairs in the cafeteria watching a drama unfold without Matilda and Zoe. While others were all jamming to the song Mood by 24kgoldn, which to me was just loud and an unnecessary music playing from Jayson's car, who by the way was no where to be found.
He was fond of resuming 3weeks after resumption day just to prove to us that he wasn't in our level as per both his parents were zillionaire. His parents, were the former head of state in New Zealand so they had everything they wanted at their beck and call and they still do.
He was the only son and the last born out of 3 sisters so he is a typical spoilt brat with a passive and slightly pessimistic attitude. A slick onion brown skin tone, and massive dread locks which made him stand out wherever he went. Besides, who would sight him and not want to look twice? He was unbelievably good looking and proud of it. I know this, thanks to Zoe's stalking skills oh, and did I forget to mention that she won't stop bragging about him?
Yeah she did that at every opportunity she had to talk about him. I wonder what she would do if Jayson actually spared her a glance. I am sure the host of heavens will know about it. I just shook my head in sympathy knowing that day will never come. I looked over a very serious Talfick who was scribbling something down, probably an apology letter to our maths teacher so as to avert the greater punishment he was going to serve.
I looked away before he could catch me staring at him. I wanted to help because I could tell he was having a hard time. The look of sheer confusion was written all over his face not to mention help. I sighed knowing even if i did help him, it's only going to get both of us in trouble. Besides, I had bigger fish to fry. Mom was demoted all the way from assistant manager to receptionist. I still didn't know what to make of that.
"Hmmm I always knew SS3 was tough and difficult but no one told me the extent " I said out loud to no one in particular. I finished the last of my lunch, thankful that the song playing from Jayson's car was way too loud so Talfick couldn't hear me. Once I packed my empty cooler into my lunch box, there was still spare time to read a novel. Without much thought of it, I brought out my phone.
The minute I opened Wattpad, my favorite novel app, I was immediately notified that there was a new update on Tearing of my skin. I rushed to open it and I started Bing reading from where I stopped to his latest update. Making sure I voted and commented in the most crazy absurd way ever. He immediately retuned the favour immensely doing the same to the only book I had successful began to write.
After thinking long and hard of what to name the book, I finally got the perfect title after I had been mentally and physical demoralized by none other than Zoe. At the end of the day I was able to come up with a title: HOW TO GET AWAY FROM BULLIES.
Shocking right? I know. But I can't really take all the credit, Zoe was the major inspiration. And yeah, I know it's quite exceptional for a science student to be reading and writing a novel - absurd if I might add but hey, it's one of the things my Wattpad fans have come to love about me.
"Whao you have a really interesting novel. I'll bet it will even sell, just as much, maybe ever better than serie titled : How to get away with murder."
I read one of the comments the author of Tearing of my skin Jkaloko said in chapter 9 of the book. I couldn't help the wide grin that was plastered on my face, while I was thinking of the perfect response to give him, Jayson walked into my class. We made eye contact briefly but the look of horror that flashed across his face got me wondering.
Wonder what crawled up his ass.
More like who crawled up his ass...
My subconsciousness stated and I just rolled my eyes. I was about to respond to a comment I got when my phone vibrated in my hands. It was a notification that I got another message from Jkaloko. My smile only became broader when I saw the content of the message.
"Honestly if I were in Maddylen shoes, I would stand up for myself and stop letting every one push me around. "
"That's a bold move, a move we hope that Maddylen will make when the time is right"
I responded to his comment. I also made a metal note to respond to the rest of his comments later. I wasn't one who trashes a chance to communicate with her readers. I opened my whatsapp and I was immediately greeted with a 100 messages from my friends Molly and Antonio. I had totally forgotten they betrayed me and broke our friendship rules.
My thumb was hovering on Molly's chat as i thought of a million and one ways I could possibly regret reading her messages. My thoughts where interrupted by that smooth, alluring, crimson yet rugged voice of non other than Jayson. He called out to me thrice, just to be sure it was me and not my crazy obsessed twin sister who wouldn't even give him a breathing space, especially when he was in the four walls of this school. I looked up from my phone to him and gave him a plus lips smile just to assured him I heard him three times.
"Chloe? Chloe? Chloe? Chloe is that--- "
"Yes, its me, I heard you the first three times."
"Ooh cool umm it's like... Is she hiding or something?"
"Who? Zoe? oh no. She's not in school."
"Oh thank God! I'm mean... Not that I... It's not like... You, you know what I mean. "
He stuttered and I giggled at his failed attempt to cover up. He just shrugged it off acting like it wasn't awkward. At this point the loud music playing from his car had already stopped. After a while of enduring the awkward silence and me staring at everything else but him he finally said.
"Cool. Party at my house this weekend, you wanna come?"
"You know I don't do parties. So no thanks, I'll pass"
" I know. Just putting it out there."
The ringing of the bell alerted us that break time was over and I was more than happy. It brought a very awkward conversation between me and Jayson to an abrupt end. To be honest, I was delighted, he left the class before my classmates began tropping in. I put my phone aside making a mental note to respond to my already pilled up WhatsApp messages.
Miss Falziat, our geography teacher walked in 2mins later and we started treating a new topic titled "Public Space". Miss Falziat was a single mother who raised her son with pride. She is one of the strongest women I know who despite all odds decided to bore a son for a rapist. It was sad, devastating and traumatising but she teaches us like there was no worry in the world.
She was about my height, all though I was lighter than her with gigantic Afro on my head, she had the small puffed Afro which was her hair style under her ever present hijab. I know this because the style was evident under here shoulder length Hijab.
"Any more question? Before we call it a day?" I heard her say and someone at the far end of the front role said out loud..."Ma your skirt is stained."
What an embarrassment I thought. Couldn't the person find a more polite and discreet way to disclose such private information?
