Chapter 12

Alby leads me back to the Glade.

"You know, not a lot of these slintheads can do stuff like that to me-" He begins. "Well I'm not one of your slintheads." I reply.

Alby gives me a smile and I keep walking, Bark on my heels.

"In that case, I guess I should give you the tour!" Alby says, throwing his arms out. I look at him with a raised eyebrow. "Really?"

He gives me a playful smile and I roll my eyes, walking to the kitchen. I had dropped all the food I had collected last night there when they jumped me, so I was starving.

"Hey Fry! Can you give me two plates?" Alby calls out. I look around and noticed some of the Gladers looking at me as they ate their lunches. I ignored them and focused on Alby and Fry.

"Ya, I'll give you one when you tell me who the shuck thief Is!" He says as he comes out.

"Alright. Here I am! Can I have some food now?" I smirk.

Fry looks up at me and his jaw drops, making my smirk grow.

"Y/n. Thief extraordinaire!" I grin, giving him a mock bow.

"B-but you're a girl!" Fry stutters.

"That's what I said," Alby chuckles. I look behind Fry and find two plates with a sandwich on each. I move past Fry and grab a plate. "Thanks Fry! It feels so good not to have to steal your food for once! But would it honestly kill you to leave some leftovers? They always smell so good!" I say before walking away towards the bench on the edge of the deadheads.

I hear catcalls and I Ignore them. A minute after I sit down, Alby sits next to me.

"You really know how to make an entrance." I roll my eyes and focus on my food.

I couldn't become attached to these people. After all, they eventually... I hang my head at the thought and force down the rest of the food.

Once I'm done, Alby gets up and says: "C'mon! I'll introduce you to some of the others."

Before I can even make It three yards, someone grabs my arm and begins to drag me in the direction of the slammer.

"Oh no you don't." He says, dragging me away.
