(First off, sorry for the boring chapter titles, this series is originally for Pinterest and is way ahead there, so I don't have much ideas for chapter names 😂)

Once Newt calms down, he breaks the embrace and wipes his nose on the back of his hand. "Thanks," he mumbles. I smile and reply: "No problem."

I grab the food and hand it to him. "Now lean back a little and try to eat. I promise you'll feel better if you do." Newt nods his head and does as I say.

I grab my granola from the ground and sigh as I see the mess. I'll have to ask a slopper to clean It up. I get back up and move to sit back on the chair. I get lost in empty thought as I slowly munch on my granola bar. I think back to finding Newt's scars on his wrist under his bracelet.

I had always suspected, but finding them hurt. He was so broken but always kept everyone together.

I then see Newt looking at me from the corner of my eye. I look up and find him eyeing me curiously. "What?" I ask, unease slowly coming into my chest.

"Why haven't I ever seen you before? How long was I out?" He asks. My unease relaxes a little.

"Oh. I'm y/n. I've been here for two months and they kinda found me the same day you... um..." "Jumped?" He said. I nodded my head. "No one knows you jumped except Minho tho. I just told everyone you were chased by a griever and tripped." Newt nods his head.

"How did you get here anyway? How didn't we know you were here?" Newt asks me.

"Well, long story short is I got trapped in the maze overnight and came to your Glade instead of my own. Then I simply snuck around. I'm not too bad at It." I shrug.

Newt nods his head. "Why haven't you tried to go back to your Glade?" He asks. Before I can answer, I suddenly see an image of a girl being ripped apart by a griever, her scream echoing off the maze walls.

"I-I can't. I couldn't keep track of the turns while I was running from the grievers," I mumble, suddenly tired as the wave of fear washes over me.

Newt takes my hand in his and gives it a reassuring squeeze. I meet his gaze and smile. "Thanks Newt,"
