Chapter 44

The next day, I can't even manage to be near anyone.

So whenever it was time to eat, I would eat away from everyone, trying to hide myself.

After lunch, I stopped by the medhut once again to fill the messenger bag that Clint gave me to hold all my medical things while I walked around the Glade.

"Y/n, are you ok?" A British accented voice asks, startling the klunk out of me.

"Shuck Newt! Don't scare me like that!" I scold, even tho on the inside I just wanted to cry Into his arms.

"Sorry," Newt blushes.

I sigh and go back to putting bandages in my messenger bag.

"But seriously, are you ok y/n? If this is about the thing, I thought you had forgiven me!" Newt says.

I clench my fist, telling myself not to say a word.

"It-It's not that. It's something else. Nothing to worry about, ok?" I say, hoping my voice won't crack.

"Well, will you at least take a walk with me around the Glade?" Newt inquires.

I knew it would seem suspicious If I don't agree.

"Ok." I shrug.

Newt's face lights up and I feel a small flutter in my stomach. "Yes!" He says, pumping his fist in the air, making me laugh.

"C'mon, let's go. You'll just join me on patrol. And then you can hand me the medical tools I need," I giggle. Newt smiles and follows me out of the medhut.

As we walk, I relax, glad to be back with Newt.

When we near the builders tho, I see Philip glare at me and the warmth inside me turns to ice.

I try to hurry, but Newt and I weren't fast enough.

Philip came over and hugged me. "Remember: I'm watching you." I can't even hug him back. I just wanted to shove him away from me and run away.

Run out if the Glade, through the maze and to the griever hole back to the real world.

When me and Newt finally got out of there, I breathe a huge sigh of relief.

"Hey, you ok?" Newt asks, resting a hand on my shoulder.

"Yes. I'm fine!" I snap.

I immediately regret it.

"I-I'm Sorry. I just... I need some time..." I say, then ran away.
