They weren't much close to the Main Palace but lights could be seen from afar. But they weren't what lit up the shadows surrounding them. Tasia had never had a good control over her shadows, or rather – the ones Cassian had given to her. But just few seconds before the light was blasted towards them, she moved in an instant, dragging Keid with herself. They fell on the ground just when a beam of light in the shape of a sharp sword passed at less than a meter from them.

Only the years spent in training prevented them from reacting. Though, Tasia gasped in her mind.

'Oh, goddess... What was that!'

She could sense a presence in the back of her mind. Maybe it was Leya, wanting to talk to her. Tasia wasn't in the mood for that at all.

And, oh, there she was. Liliana's slim and tall figure stood not more than five meters from them. The light she had created was moving around in disorder after the sword had missed his target and now it lit up her face. The so called saintess had a strange smile on her face that made Tasia feel goosebumps. It was wicked.

It made her recall the day when all things had started to go wrong. When Cassian died but just before that...

He was about to die. The girl didn't have to look at him to say that. His pale face, almost blank eyes fighting to stay in conscious and his moveless body...

It was too late. Cassian was simply dying...

Tasia thought about what her mother had instructed them before leaving.

"I'll be back soon. But before that... look after each other, okay? Sweeties, my suns..." She caressed both of them on the cheek. "Be careful, okay?"

Tasia knew what she wasn't able to tell them. "Don't die, please." She wanted from them to stay alive no matter what.

"Ugghh..."

Tasia was flying through the corridors while keeping Cassian a meter over the ground with her wind element. She just had to reach the hospital and... And...

And what?!

BOOM!

The abrupt loud noise made Tasia stop running and threw her body a few meters back. She found herself on the ground struggling to stand up. Next to her was Cassian. She had used all her mana to fight that man and than that running... There was nothing she could use now to help him...

'I'm sorry... I'm s-so sorry... Cassian!'

"Well, well, well, who do we have here?"

Tasia's eyes snapped open and just then she realized she had closed them in a way of preying... But who she was preying to? Who was going to save them?

'Oh, mom, I'm so sorry...'

"Two kids, who have lost their way back?" Her muted steps were barely heard by Tasia.

Then, only then, she turned her face to the woman angrily, "Who are you! You send him, right? That killer, who..."

"Right, you are so right, kid..." The woman's mouth curled in a wicked smile.

"I want you two killed... And you two cannot simply escape..." Her hand lit up and Tasia suddenly realized that the woman was a light mage. That magic...

"...The goddess' sentence. You both are sentenced to death!"

Tasia's eyes widened in horror and the only thing she did when she saw that light turning into countless sharp blades was...
