"You said she was the one to desire revenge? You were mistaken!"

Cassian was thankful to Tasia that she had discovered the poison and came to a plan rather quickly. But it was still uncertain and they weren't sure if it would affect them too much or if Liliana would actually use it. But there was still too much to gain rather the loss they would have to face, so...

He had told her right away that she could count on him.

The fierce blows of wind and fire, mixed with his furious shadows, didn't let her take a breath. The plan was to exhaust her the most and then to think of a plan himself.

"You can't defeat her light with your shadows. Don't get cocky."

'Tch, I know I can't, but I will do my best!'

"I'm the one, who wants revenge! You'll pay for what we were forced to go through all these damn years!"

'No, no, not a paladin, please...' Tasia desperately tried to deny the reality, but...

But it was all in vain.

She didn't know his name, nor anything else more than his position. He was wearing this Kingdom's light robes of a paladin knight. And him being here could mean only one think – he was close to Liliana. He probably was her personal knight.

But why...Why, why, why, why? To fight with such a powerful man, exuding such terrifying aura? He must be both a strong swordsman and a mage.

She had to fight with him just when she was at her weakest? Her mana was at its bottom, her body was exhausted and she had a hard time pretending to be okay and almighty while she the only think she could think of was the end.

'Why don't just everything end?'

"Hey, that's not the moment to lose yourself in your thoughts! Wake up already! Fight him and then save them."

"Easily said than done..." Tasia mumbled under her nose and then her expression changed to a sillier and more confused one,

"You will fight a weak girl like me?"

"Weak?" The paladin broke in laughter.

"Said the girl who defeated a strong mage from the Heras."

"I was merely there with the prince..."

"Well then, let's see what you are made of then..."

But she didn't even have a sword!

"Hurry and find yourse..."

His attack was so sudden that she had to jump away in the last second to be able to survive. The man was holding his sword as if it was a toy a child would like to sleep with.

'The most comfortable thing, huh?'

"Tas, always remember to run for your dear life if there is a person that treats his weapon as if treating a treasure."

'Yeah, uncle Tavian, this man is surely scary.'

"C-come here!" She heard a voice, but the paladin had reached her and she had yet to run again to survive, while thinking. Her mother may have or may haven't brought a weapon. She was the most powerful mage in Hares for a reason – she was pretty good at swordsmanship but still... it was too risky to stop to look for it. Jax and Tara were out of the question.

"...I'll tell you this – we, from the duke Callios' family, have never been good at anything when it comes to fighting," Tara had once told her.

She didn't want to have anything to do with the king, so...
