Alexis' POV

I lay in a hospital bed in a hospital gown as I wait for my midwife to arrive. I've been here for hours. I take deep calming breaths. "Want be long now" someone says from the door way. I look up to see Elijah.

"How did you get past the nurse?" I ask him smiling.

"Compulsion, I am surprised you're alone Alexis" he states.

"Bonnie is in the waiting room and the others are on their way. Though Tyler won't be able to make it" I tell him sadly.

"That is his fault, he should of not left you while you were pregnant" he tells me. "Who is going to take his place to help you?" he asks me.

"He's mother and Elena was suppose to be here to support me also. But she's late" I tell him. "If they're not here soon, they won't be allowed in until after Adrianna is born" I groan.

"If it would please you, I can wait with you until she arrives" he tells me.

"I'd like that" I tell him smiling. He sits beside me and I grab his hand as another contraction hits. "I'm so glad you're here Elijah" I tell him. "How was your journey?" I ask him curious.

"It was good, but it was missing someone" he tells me and kisses my forehead.

"Not to be a downer, but I saw Klaus earlier. He told me more about Tatia, about how you both fell for her. Look Damon and Stefan have Elena" I tell him.

"It is true, I think it's time you knew the story" he tells me. "When our family first settled here, there was a girl named Tatia. She was an exquisite beauty. Every boy of age desired to be her suitor, even though she'd had a child by another man. None loved her more than Niklaus, except for me" he explains. "Our mother was a very powerful witch. She sought to end our feud over Tatia and so she took her. Klaus and I would later learn that it was Tatia's blood that we consumed in the wine on the night where our mother performed the spell which turned us into vampires. Tatia wouldn't make a decision between the two of us. So for a time Niklaus and I...grew estranged. Harsh words were traded, we even came to blows" he continues.

"Then what happened?" I ask him intrigued.

"But in the end we realized the sacred bond of family. Family above all" he tells me.

"You know I'm not her right" I tell him.

"Of course I do" he assures me. Just then Carol enters the room.

"Lexis dear, how are the contractions?" she asks me.

"About nine minutes apart now" I tell them. "Did you see Elena?" I ask her.

"No, just Bonnie and Matt" she tells me. "But I'm sure they'll be here soon" she assures me. "Lovely to see you again Elijah" she says. Just then the midwife enters.

"Hello Alexis, Mrs Lockwood and I don't believe we've meet" she says looking at Elijah.

"My name is Elijah" he says smiling.

"Pleasure" she says and turns to me. "Where are Tyler and Elena?" she asks me.

"Tyler is out of town and won't make it. But Elena is on her way" I tell her.

"That's good, lets see how you're going" she says and checks. "Seven centimeters" she states. "If your twin isn't here soon. She won't be allowed in, is there someone else you'd wish to be here is Elena does not make it?" she asks me. I bite my lip and look at Elijah.

"I'd be honoured to stay if that is your wish" he tells me. "Only if Elena does not arrive in time" he adds.

"Thank you Elijah" I say with a smile. We continue to wait and Elena is still not here.
