As a girl whose periods have never been regular, it took me a moment to understand the meaning of the title. But for Shweta who has lost her virginity to her semi-boyfriend, it definitely means some great indian pregnancy drama.
I saw a recommendation for a book which was a collection of indian books while reading Prithvi. Going through different kind of cliché titles, this one caught my eye.
Whoa. Just as I was writing this, wattpad popup for this very book appeared. So basically, I would have came across this book either way. Cool.
So, Shweta is 17 years old indian girl with a kind of rebellious side. Not the one to take the road others have set for her. All hell breaks loose when she realizes that her always-on-time period is missing.
The story follows her and her family in trying to get back her period. From visiting an astronomer to using herbal remedies. And also slamming the patriarchy along the way.
That's it. I can't describe it any better, though it deserves a better description. When I'd started writing these reviews, I was just ranting nonsense at first. Then it got better. And now I've lost it again. I don't know what I should write whenever I read a book.
I really want to and I should write more about this book, but I can't. I don't seem to know enough words. It has happened before. But this is bad. I can't put my thoughts in freaking words. I didn't write reviews for five/six books since October. Not that I read well enough to write a review. Just to break the chain started writing this one, but it's not going well. Only 8 weeks of 2020 are left. I will try to review as many books as I can, but not in 2021. I'll make a new book if I feel like it. This book will end along with 2020.
That'll be all for today. The book is absolutely excellent in every aspect. It perfectly reflects indian society. I think, it will be way more difficult for any other girl in reality than Shweta though. There are merely 20 chapters. So check it out and give it the love it deserves.
Have a good day!
Thanks for reading :)
EDIT:
This book has a sequel called 'Periods, Pyaar and Patriarchy'. It's a brilliant, beyond brilliant book. I swear, these books need more recognition. Please go read them <3
