First book of 2020. Another teen fiction. Pretty long, but I love it so much. Also, it's one of those books which managed to bring tears in my eyes, for silly reasons but still.
It was Life in Colours that I had started reading first. But there was same story from Ashton's perspective in another book. So, after reading first two chapters I switched to Life In Search. I liked it better. It's not everyday I get to read the same book from different perspectives. I still read some scenes from Scarlet's perspective too.
When I started reading I didn't know if I'll continue it or not. I have this habit of reading random chapters from random books and then not looking back to them. It was the plan but after first few chapters of LIC, I unknowingly on purpose started reading LIS (sounds weird? Lol) and then I just kept reading.
Maybe this is what being addicted to reading feels like. My brain is tired from reading all the time, but I still can't stop. This book feels never ending. Chapters are long enough and there are plenty of them including epilogue and some bonus chapters. I was eager to finish it soon. Now that I've read everything, the book, bonus chapters, I don't know, I feel empty (?).
Where to start? Let's start with Scarlett. She's so strong. I know what is it like to be a elder sister, but I cannot imagine what it'd be like to raise four siblings at the age of 17. Even after everything that happened with her parents and then her ex-boyfriend, she's invincible. Behind that tired, responsible face she's a total savage girl who would like to do crazy stuff like pink hair colour, tattoos, piercing etcetera. She's everything I would like to be one day. I just love her.
As of Ashton, I had a crush on a fictional guy after a long time. I read the whole book from his perspective, so I have a lot to say about him. He's not the guy he has spent half of the book thinking he is anymore. Let's not talk about his past. It's absolutely true that, he was an asshole in the start. But he has all my heart. There are so many things to love about him. He takes his charm wherever he goes. He started playing football because of his mom and ended up getting a scholarship for college. What I loved most is he has his mother's number saved as 'birthgiver'. He loves Scar's sister as much as his own. Treats Silver & Sterling (Scar's twin brothers) as his own brothers. He waited for more than half of the book to ask her out, just because she needed her time. He hates Harry Potter (I wanna kill him for that. How can anyone hate it?) But still watched the whole series only to keep her happy during her periods. What else do you want?
The book cannot be completed without Rhodes kids. Sage is Ash's best friend, kinda goofy, will annoy you till death. Interrupting his sister and bestie is like his hobby. Silver and sterling are twins, the unbeatables and you never know when they'll jump in with a camera. Saffron is the smallest of all, but the amount of sass she has is incomparable. She's cute. All three brothers threatened Ash to not hurt their sister, but undoubtedly twins were most scary.
I love Ashton's parents and his grandmother too. They're best among all the parents I've come across in all the books. Them talking about Ash having a crush is cutest. Ronnie, Ash's sister, the only person in this whole book with decency to knock the door. She's the one who made me cry. When they were saying goodbye to Ash when they dropped him at his college, I knew I'll cry but I thought it'll be because of his conversation with Scar. But Ronnie went before her, she started talking and it was so cute and senti, I couldn't stop the tear from escaping.
Stella and Ella, Scar's best friends. Stella is a bit scary and Ella is sweet. Ella and Sage are kinda together. I couldn't understand that relationship until they actually started dating.
There are so many characters, during last some chapters I didn't remember who are they and where they came from. I was like who's James again? Oh, he's Stella's boyfriend. Gabe, I swear, you're my favourite of them all, but I'll never forgive you for what you did with Ash and Scar on Valentine's. Still, he's the biggest Ashlett shipper. Zev, Gabe and James, tricked Ash twice to make him accept his feelings. Avery, Scar's cousin, the last person Ash will ever want to see. You'll hate her throughout the book, until prom. But she's not that evil.
I guess, I covered everything. The only thing that annoyed me is it's so so so long. It's unnecessarily stretched at some points which made it so long. They don't confess their feelings for 85% of the book. I expected a bit of more drama. It felt like forever until I read all the chapters, but after reading the bonus chapters, it feels like end of the world. I love this book whatsoever. Ashlett have my heart.
If it took 7 days to read the book, it took 9 days to describe it. I started writing about it the next day I started reading it. I've written a lot, but still I'm missing some things. I'll read Life in Colours soon, maybe during or after my exams. Life in Love and Life in Hiding are books from the same series. Those aren't completed so I'm planning to not read them until they're completed.
I hope you're enjoying whatever I'm writing. Thanks for reading :)Edit: I'm reading LiL and LiH. They're still ongoing. They'll be as long as LiC, so no chance of me rereading when they're complete. I won't be able to write anything properly with the pace it's being updating. So they won't get a review.
