Chapter thirty-one: Cedric

Back to your POV. The next day.
After classes, I waited for Draco outside of the great hall for lunch.
Y/N-"Hey.."
Draco-"Oh hi"
Y/N-"Are you alright?"
Draco-"Yeah"
Y/N-"Would you like to eat with me?"
Draco-"I can't sorry."
Y/N-"Oh, why not?"
Draco-"I know I promised but I think I'm going to eat with my friends instead." He looked over to the Slytherin table, my eyes followed. Blaise and Pansy were laughing and looked up at us. Blaise gestured to him so that he'd go over. I thought he'd say yes to me for sure. But I guess he just doesn't want to.
Y/N-"Oh. Okay." He gave me an annoyed look by folding his lips into each other, raising his eye brows and nodding. "I'll see you later then?"
Draco-"Sure." He walked away without even looking at me. I walked over and sat next to Hermione without taking my eyes off of the ground. What happened between the time we saw each other yesterday and right now.
Ron-"Yeah you should have seen how well I did on my test, I got an A" I thought I was going to completely fail it."
Harry-"I did pretty well too, got an E. Hermione what did you get.?"
Ron-"An O of course. Anyone would be mental to think anything else."
Hermione-"You both did so well I'm proud."
Ron-"Yeah yeah"
Hermione-"Y/N?" She said, taking my attention from the floor away. "Are you alright?"
Y/N-"I'm fine..why?"
Harry-"You look sort of pale"
Y/N-"I'm just feeling a bit sick, I'll be okay."
Ron-"what did you get on the exam?"
Y/N-"O"
Hermione-"That's great!!"
Y/N-"Yeah." Great? Yeah, but I didn't really care about a silly grade at the moment. I looked over to see Draco, sitting close to Pansy. Very close. I didn't even like them being in the same vicinity as one another but there wasn't anything I could do, that being they share the same house. I've obviously accepted that but this, this was way too much. She's practically sitting on his lap. "I'm not very hungry" I stood up. "I'm gonna take a walk before class. I'll see you there."
Harry-"Alright feel better."
I walked into the hall way, usually I'd be crying by now but I didn't.
Cedric-"Hey Y/N!!"
Y/N-"Hey Cedric" I gave him a small wave.
Cedric-"Are you okay? You look upset."
Y/N-"Not really but I'll be fine."
Cedric-"Do you want to hang out and talk about it?"
Y/N-"Where's Cho?"
Cedric-"Ask Dean."
Y/N-"Oh."
Cedric-"Yeah."
Y/N-"I'm sorry"
Cedric-"That's okay. I just don't know what I did wrong. But let's talk about you not me, want to go the library?"
Y/N-"Oh well that's...kind of me and Draco's spot-was me and Draco's spot."
Cedric-"Oh well we can go somewhere else then."
Y/N-"No, no let's go." If Draco wanted to act like a dick then I can be one too. He never acts cold to me.
Cedric-"So what's on your mind?"
Y/N-"Well usually Draco tells me everything on his mind. He said that he'd never hurt me but he's starting too. I may be over reacting but this is the type of stuff that happens when the relationship goes to shit. It's fine that he wants to sit with his friends but he acted like he wanted to sit with me and he usually tells me nicely but he said it like I was annoying him. If I am then he should tell me instead of acting like that. Is this stupid? Me, overthinking this?"
Cedric-"No not at all. I went through the same thing. Cho said she really liked me and then things started to get weird when Dean was around. He'd always stare at her and send her notes and she wouldn't ever show me what they said."
Y/N-"Maybe she was afraid to show you? Like for your own good"
Cedric-"But I don't understand. I've told her she could trust me. I'd never let anyone hurt her."
Y/N-"I think that Dean was maybe expecting to much from her. More than friendship, When Ginny was seeing him he always had her in tears."
Cedric-"I'll try and talk to her again. But she said she wanted space so for a while that's what I'll give her."
Y/N-"Yeah, let her know you're here if she needs anything but don't be too persistent. I completely understand how you are feeling though. Draco also told me he'd never hurt me again but it seems like the beginning of just that."
Cedric-"Maybe you should give him space too?"
Y/N-"Possibly. Well I'll ask him about it after quidditch and if he still acts the same, you and I can hang out if you like? Just talk about stuff"
Cedric-"Yeah that sounds good. Send me a message if you can."
Y/N-"I will."
Dracos POV.
Lunch was almost over and I peeked my head into the library after seeing Cedric follow Y/N in. She was sitting across from him and they were smiling. This already hurts. Seeing her with someone else is already breaking me. But I have to do this for her safety.
Back to your POV.
It was time for the Quidditch match and Hermione, Ginny, and I were watching Ron and Harry play. Draco's eyes were looking all around for the Golden Snitch when his eyes met mine. I gave him a small smile and waved but he looked above me with his eye brows raised and quickly flew up. My head turned to see him reaching for the Golden Snitch, he grabbed it and Slytherin won.
Hermione-"Are you coming to Hagrids with us?"
Y/N-"Uhh no I have something to do but tell the guys I'll see them later. I'll explain when I get back okay?"
Hermione-"Alright, see you later"
I saw Draco laughing with his mates.
Y/N-"Draco!!" I said walking up to him, his smile faded when he saw me. "Good job"
Draco-"Yeah. Thanks."
Y/N-"Are you busy?"
Draco-"Uhh, sort of yeah." His friends were watching a few feet away from us.
Y/N-"What are you doing?"
Draco-"I'm just hanging out, okay?"
Y/N-"But.."
Draco-"Bloody hell! lay off okay!?. Can't I just relax alone?"
Y/N-"Well yeah of course but-.." It was clear that it wasn't alone.
Blaise-"Are you coming or what mate?"
Draco-"Yeah" he yelled to them. "I've gotta go"
Y/N-"Draco wait-"
Draco-"Blimey What!!? Stop acting like a bloody leach on my ass!!"
Y/N-"Just tell me what's bothering you!!"
Draco-"You're bothering me!!! Okay please just. Just leave me alone." I scoffed.
Y/N-"Are you breaking up with me?"
Draco-"Yeah. Yeah I think I am." Tears were coming to the surface of my eyes.
Y/N-"I don't know what I did."
Draco-"I'll see you around okay. I just don't think it's a great idea anymore."
Y/N-"Look if this is about your parents..."
Draco-"Bye Y/N" he waved at me and jogged away. I started to cry as hard as I could. I ran to the library and wrote to Cedric, and waited for him.
Dracos POV.
I actually did it. It took everything in me not to tear up. I knew it was fake but she didn't, and I know it broke her heart as much as it did mine.
