Chapter seven: Missing hairbrush

It was almost lunch time and I was in my room. I went to brush my hair but my comb was missing. I looked everywhere for it. But I didn't want to be late so I pinned my hair up in a high ponytail. I headed down to the lunch room and saw Hermione, Harry and Ron smiling at me as I walked over.
Hermione-"Take a seat!" I sat down and she scooted closer to me. she handed me a little red box with my name on it.
Y/N-"You guys didn't have to get me anything, really."
Harry-"But we wanted to! It's your birthday!"
I smiled and opened the box. it's a gold charm bracelet with a couple of charms on it.
Y/N-"Wow!" My face lights up as I admire all of the charms. "This is great you guys thanks so much!"
Ron-"Theres more to the gift" I raised my eyebrows and each of them handed me a small envelope and I opened it.
Hermione-"Each charm we picked out so you can add it to the bracelet" she said smiling.
Y/N-"Thanks guys I love it!"
We continued to eat our lunch and talk until lunch ended. I headed to the library to meet Draco, but I heard two people whispering behind the corner.
Professor Mcgonagall-"We must keep this a secret until we know for sure who's been doing it. We have to keep the children safe" My eyes shot up. Keep what a secret? Keep us safe from what..? Or who? I tried to peek over the corner when I felt a tap on my back.
Draco-"Hey sweetums"
Y/N-"Don't make me gag." I said looking back over the corner.
Draco-"What are we looking at?"
Y/N-"Nothing."  Mcgonagall was gone. And whoever she was talking to was gone too.
Draco-"Why do you look worried?" He said as we started to walk into the library. I started to whisper and he moved his head closer to mine to hear me.
Y/N-"I heard something..." Draco furrowed his brows waiting for me to answer. "I over heard Professor Mcgonagall talking to someone about a secret, and how it could put us in danger."
Draco-"About the things going missing around the school." He said like he knew exactly what was going on.
Y/N-"Missing things?"
Draco-"Yeah. I heard My father and professor Snape talking about it. Yesterday Salazar Slytherins skull was missing from our common room..then put back this morning. Things like that keep happening all around the school. But they don't know that I know."
Y/N-"Curious...Wait now that I think of it, my hairbrush was missing earlier!"
Draco-"Whoever is doing it must be a right sick git. That's for sure." We entered the library.
Y/N-"Do you think it's serious?"
Draco-"Nah. Probably some bastard pulling pranks. If they get caught they will be in huge trouble." I shook my head yes. We sat down at the table in the library and looked in our books.
Dracos pov.
We sat down and she started to search in the potions book. I noticed her hair was up today when it's usually down. This made it really easy to see her face. She didn't have any makeup on today but she still looked good. She smelled nice like she had just bathed in flowers. She scratched her neck and I noticed she had a bracelet on her wrist that I'd never seen.
Draco-"Is this new?" I asked playing with one of the charms. "Yes" she said not looking up at me.
Back to your POV.
Y/N-"It was a gift. From my friends."
Draco-"What's the special occasion?"
Y/N-"My birthday." I said looking up at him. He raised his eyebrows.
Draco-"I didn't know it was your birthday"
Y/N-"Yeah. I usually don't tell many people."
Draco-"Why not?"
Y/N-"I just don't like a lot of attention I guess.."
Draco-"Well..you may not like it but you definitely get it anyway." Quickly noticing what he said he looked down at the book and started reading. I smiled.
Y/N-"What do you mean by that?"
Draco-"Nothing...I...forget what I said." He said still looking away from me.
Y/N-"Did Draco Malfoy just give me a compliment..?" I said teasing him and poking his arm. He looked up at me and did a half laugh.
Draco-"You don't know what I said okay Y/L/N"
Y/N-"Alright..whatever you say Draco." I saw him blushing out of the corner of my eye. I must have embarrassed him. A couple hours past and we got a lot done for the project.

This scene skips to the next day. Same place and time.

I waited for Draco in the library and saw him running towards me.
Y/N-"Draco what's wrong you look like you've seen a ghost." The Bloody Baron looks at me and gives me a look. "Heh. Sorry."
Draco-"No follow me." He said taking my hand and pulling me along into an empty book aisle.
Y/N-"What's goi-" he cut me off.
Draco-"I heard my dad talking to Professor Dumbledore. He said that due to what's been happening they are sending us on a Field trip."
Y/N-"What, but I thought you said it wasn't that serious.?"
Draco-"Well I guess I was wrong."
Y/N-"Do you know where they are taking us?"
Draco-"No, but there is no way I'm working on this project today" I nodded my head yes. We spent the rest of the day just talking.
Y/N-"Looks like we missed dinner"
Draco-"Awe da*n..hey I have an idea." He said smirking. I raised my eyebrows. "Let's take a walk outside."
Y/N-"Okay" we get outside and it's cold. I can't help but shiver.
Draco-"I'd give you my jacket but I'm not wearing one" he said looking down at me.
Dracos POV.
It was quite cold out. The air whipping at our faces made it even worse. I looked down at her and she was shivering.
Draco-"I'd give you my jacket but I'm not wearing one." She looked up at me and her little nose was red from the cold. Back to your pov.
Y/N-"Being a gentleman are we?." I scoffed sarcastically.
Draco-"Hey I'm not all bad"
Y/N-"Maybe. Maybe not." I said smiling. "What are we doing out here anyway.?" He turned and looked out into the forbidden forest. "No. No way I'm not going in there Draco."
Draco-"Oh come on, why not? It will be fun."
Y/N-"Uhhh it's dangerous.."
Draco-"You're not scared are you Y/N?" He said smiling at me.
Y/N-"As a matter of fact. Yes. I am."
Draco-"Don't worry you have me to protect you."
Y/N-"So you want to be my protector now.?"
Draco-"Come on" he takes my hand and we start to head in when we hear Hagrids door open.
Professor Dumbledore-"We must send them tomorrow. Hogwarts is unsafe." We ducked down and hid behind the bushes.
Hagrid-"Whatever is best" the professors still talk but in a low voice. We started to whisper.
Draco-"Can you hear them?"
Y/N-"No.." I started slipping on some rocks. "Shove over Malfoy I'm falling"
Draco-"No, you move. You're smaller than me." I moved back and tripped on the roots of a tree and squealed a little. Draco caught me. They looked over and we ducked down even more. We were on the ground and Draco was still holding me in his lap.
Y/N-" I-"
Draco-"Shhh" he said placing his finger over my lips. He looked down at me and my heart was practically beating out of my chest as he looked into my eyes. He slowly took his finger away after a couple seconds.
Draco-"They are right there" I kept quiet. "Okay they are leaving" when they were far enough away we stood up.
Draco-"What do you think they were saying?" He said as I was whipping the dirt off my clothes with a frown.
Hagrid-"What are you kids doin out here." We jumped and turned to see Hagrid standing there. We looked at each other. "You two better get back before you get into trouble."
Y/N-"Hagrid what's going on? Is this about the missing objects?"
Hagrid-"Yes well..I shouldn't have said that. Go on back you your rooms before you get into trouble. Go on." He said pointing at the school. "Yes sir." I said looking down as we walk away.
I stomped still mad.
Draco-"What's the matter with you?"
Y/N-"We could have got caught." I said stopping.
Draco-"Yeah, but we didn't." I frowned up at him. "Come on I wouldn't have gotten you in trouble on purpose I promise." My frown started to fade. "Alright" I said.
Draco-"I'll walk you back to your dormitory."
Y/N-"Okay". I said smiling. He walked me back.
Draco-"Goodnight. Oh and Happy birthday." He said smiling. As soon as I got into my room I looked in the mirror and noticed the huge smile on my face. I looked down and saw my brush sitting there. It was back.
