Chapter Twenty: Owls, Feathers and the chest

Back at Hogwarts. Gryffindor Common room:
Y/N-"Hey guys"
Hermione-"Hey!! How was Hogsmeade?"
Y/N-"It was okay. Did you guys find anything interesting?"
Harry-"Well we figure since this year we are having the Yule Ball not everyone will be leaving to go home. So we don't have to worry about a huge amount of people leaving and disappearing. One of us needs to sneak into The Owlery when Charlotte and her mother aren't there." He looked around at us all.
Ron-"Well I'm not doing it! There's no way I'm doing it. There's probably spiders crawling all over the place."
Hermione-"Oh come on Ronald seriously this is important!"
Harry-"It's alright I'll do it. But one of you should come with me."
Y/N-"I'll do it."
Harry-"Brilliant. Shall we do it during dinner?"
Y/N-"Yeah, maybe they will be gone eating so we can snoop around."
Ron-"Just don't get caught or we will all be dead meat."
Harry-"We can use my cloak"
Hermione-"Good idea."
Y/N-"I'm going to grab something I'll be right back." I gesture Hermione to follow while the boys aren't looking.
Hermione-"Wait I'll come with you" we get into my room and sit on my bed. "Sooo tell me about Hogsmeade, did Draco have any information?"
Y/N-"Nothing other than his father acting suspicious lately..."
Hermione-"Really? How exactly?"
Y/N-"Well..." I looked down hesitating.
Hermione-"Come on Y/N we need to know. It's okay."
Y/N-"He said that Clarisse Clermont was at Malfoy Manor once."
Hermione-"WHAT. Y/N this is bad. It's exactly what we thought. Malfoy's father has to be working with Her!"
Y/N-"Possibly. But we don't know for sure. Draco said he'd try and get more information so we have to be patient."
Hermione-"Well it better be soon because Christmas is only a few days away."
Y/N-"I know." I looked down smiling and I could feel my cheeks getting warm.
Hermione-"What is it Y/N?"
Y/N-"Ohh, uhm" I chuckled. "Draco, he told me that he loves me" I smiled.
Hermione-"Really! Well I'm happy for you Y/N.. did you say it back?"
Y/N-"Yeah. But I'm still struggling to trust him. I mean obviously I want too. I just I need to know that he really does care about me. I need to know he won't hurt me again, you know.?"
Hermione-"Yeah I understand that. But he loves you!! That's pretty awesome" we starting giggling when I looked up to see Ron and Harry listening. We immediately stopped laughing and Harry walked away.
Y/N-"No Harry wait!!" Crap. I stood up to chase after him when Ron opened his mouth slightly. "Don't say a word Ronald." I ran after Harry.
We were in the common room and Ron and Hermione watched from above.
Y/N-"Harry please don't be upset"
Harry-"Upset? don't be upset!! How can I not be. No this is beyond upset Y/N I thought you were done with him. And I..." he looks down at my ring. And laughs. " of course how could I be so thick. I can't believe I didn't notice this. You forgave him haven't you." He wouldn't even let me get a word in. "This is mad!"
Y/N-"HARRY STOP." He looked at me with rage. His face was red and he had sweat on his forehead. "Please just let me explain. I didn't want you to be angry with me."
Harry-"Well of course I'm angry. You're in love with Malfoy. And to think.."
Y/N-"What!? To think what Harry?"
Harry-"Nothing just forget it."
Y/N-"No I'm done with this ridiculous storming away and shutting me out. You're supposed to be my best friend."
Harry-"You're right I am. We are friends. That's all we've ever been right?"
Y/N-"Well...yeah?" There's something you should know about Harry and I. Last year I had a huge crush on him. But he liked Someone else so, I learned to get over it. Soon after he'd always flirt with me and my crush had started up again but I knew that we were strictly friends so again I disregarded my feelings. And then that night it seemed like he would have kissed me and maybe he'd had feelings for me, however I didn't feel the same way. It's Draco now.
Harry-"Look I know that night we almost kissed but..I was worked up and I felt like you needed someone and I also needed someone but I didn't want to take advantage of you or ruin what we already have Y/N."
Y/N-"Harry..If it was last year, maybe things would be different but...."
Harry-"But you love Malfoy." I looked down and up at him again.
Y/N-"Yeah" I said slowly under my breath. "But that doesn't mean you aren't my best friend Harry. I'll always be there for you no matter what okay?"
Harry-"Yeah I know. I'll be here too." We hugged and I looked up and Ron and Hermione smiling. The rest of the day we hung out at relaxed until it was dinner time.
Ron-"Are you coming?"
Y/N-"I'll meet you guys there."
Ron-"Okay"
I waited in the hall hoping to see Draco but I didn't so I started to head in.
Cedric-"Hey Y/N"
Y/N-"Oh! Hey Ced how are you doing?"
Cedric-"Great thanks. I've been meaning to talk to you and ask if you're doing better from your....fall but I didn't wanna bother you"
Y/N-"Oh it's no bother at all thank you for asking. I'm doing very well"
Cedric-"That's good I'm glad. You can talk to me anytime!"
Y/N-"I'll remember that" he waved and I waved back. As I went to walk in I saw Draco walking and talking to Charlotte. Wtf. And he wants me to trust him again. He looked up from her and locked eyes with me. His face went from a smile to a startle in a heartbeat. It looked like he was going to say something when I walked in to the great hall.
Dracos POV.
Before dinner I thought really hard about what Y/N had said. If I want to get information I need to keep my enemies close. So I went for it.
Draco-"Charlotte hey!"
Charlotte-"What the hell do you want Malfoy?"
Draco-"Wha— uhh wanna walk to lunch together?"
Charlotte-"No."
Draco-"Ohh come on you're still mad at me for getting you in trouble. I thought you were tough." She stopped walking.
Charlotte-"You do know you lost us 20 points for telling on me right?"
Draco-"Well actually you lost us the points but, that's beside the point" she rolled her eyes and started walking faster. "Please I feel guilty. I'm upset about it too."
Charlotte-"Fine walk with me."
Authors POV. At the office the day after Y/Ns fall:
Draco-"Look I didn't do anything wrong okay. Charlotte was the one who took my broom out of no where and was tormenting Y/N. Pansy and Charlotte were mocking her and when she fell it was so foggy it was to late before any of us could do anything."
Charlotte-"I was just trying to have a laugh."
Ron-"we aren't laughing."
Professor McGonagall-"Mr. Weasley please calm down."
Hermione-"With all due respect Professor. But Malfoy is right. There was nothing we could do."
Harry-"We would have if we could honestly we'd never want Y/N go get hurt."
Pansy-"This is so stupid I had nothing to do with this."
Hermione-"You were a part of why she felt the need to chase after Charlotte!!"
Draco-"Yeah it was your fault Pansy."
Dumbledore-"That's enough! Severus since they are from Slytherin I am leaving it up to you with the consequences. But I do highly suggested some should be put into order."
Snape-"Fine...What happened was very immature. 20 points will be removed."
Charlotte-"What!? that's not fair !!! Why!?"
Snape-"Miss Clermont don't make it worse." Everyone was silent. Charlotte got detention cleaning the library for a few days as well as cleaning up after dinner.
Dumbledore-"You may all return to your dormitories."
Back to your POV.
Draco-"Wait y/n" I started to think about how selfish I sounded. I want to trust him and a big part of not trusting him is my judgment. "Don't be mad I was—"
Y/N-"I'm not mad."
Draco-"Really?" I smiled and nodded.
Y/N-"I promise I'm not but I can't talk right now I'm busy. Tomorrow? After class?"
Draco-"Can't wait"
Ron and Hermione stayed in the Great Hall so it didn't look to suspicious when me and Harry left to head to the Owlrey.
Harry-"Let's go grab my cloak."
Y/N-"Okay" Harry and I went into his cloak and we were at the door way to the owlrey when we heard a voice.
Clarisse-"I said we have to!" Me and Harry looked at each other surprised.
Lucius Malfoy-"I agreed until I you brought my son into this!" My eyes widened.
Clarisse-"We had a deal!!"
Malfoy-"We will talk about this later, Narcissa is expected me." Lucius walked out and we backed up so fast into the door. Clarisse scoffed and left as well. When we were in the clear we took the cloak off.
Y/N-"What the hell was that about..."
Harry-"Lets find out." Harry and I started looking around room for anything that could be a clue.
Y/N-"Harry look! What is that?" I pointed to a what looked to be a chest covered in a pile of owl feathers. "Is it a chest" he ran over and picked it up. We both sat on the ground.
Harry-"It's locked."
Y/N-"Alohomora" I used my wand to unlock the small chest.
Harry-"What are these? They look like potions"
Y/N-"Yeah they do. But I've never seen anything like them before.." we looked at each other when I saw a piece of cloth under some more feathers, I pulled it out.
Y/N-"Blimey!! It's Hermiones shirt!!!"
Harry-"Should we take it!? This must be where she's keeping the things she steals."
Y/N-"We could but what if Clarisse notices?"
Harry-"Yeah I-"
Clarisse-"GOODNESS THIS IS SO RIDICULOUS" we gasped and Harry ran for the cloak.
Harry-"Y/N!.... what are you going !! She's coming hurry up!!"
Y/N-"Wait we forgot to lock it back up.!" I closed the chest. "Colloportus...there it's locked." I placed it under the feathers and hid under the cloak just in time. Harry whispers.
Harry-"Let's get out of here." I agree by nodding and we head back to our common room.
