The sun wasn't present at the moment but it still felt so hot whenever he stared at me in a manner where I will assume that he was looking at me and not someone else. It's so hard to resist at the same time so whenever he does it, it feels like he was also forcing me to look at him.
"Adam..." I called. "I know that I talk ill about your parents without knowing what really happened and it was wrong at every angle so, I want to apologize. I mean it."
He smiled downward and bounced his head a couple of times before shoving his hands inside his pocket. Bumuka nang saglit ang bibig niya ngunit kaagad ding tumikhim at saka ngumisi.
"Sige, pinapatawad na kita pero masama pa rin ang loob ko kaya kailangan mo iyong pagaanin," nakangisi nitong saad na rason ng paghalukipkip ng aking braso.
"At paano ko naman mapapagaan ang loob mo kung ganoon?"
He rolled his sleeve up to his elbow before brushing his hair using his fingers. He then acted as if thinking of something while I just waited for him in silence.
"Will you go on a date with me?" he asked but his confidence seemed to wane because I could see the anxiousness inside his dead black irises.
"No." I averted his gaze even though it did not help me completely ignore his presence but in all fairness, I felt better thinking that I don't need to deal with the sadness alone because he was here. Distracting me from everything.
"At least pretend that you think about it!"
"I think fast," I countered. "I'm thinking of taking another test at MEU before the term ends so I'm gonna need to focus all over again. Quiz bees and midterms are lurking around the corner, too, so I think dates aren't too ideal right now."
Adam didn't move nor talk but he stared at me with enormous thoughts running inside his head. His presence became relaxed and soothing which makes him the best candidate to accompany me tonight.
"I'll help you with it," he breathed.
"You won't laugh at me?"
"Should I be laughing right now?"

"I like school," he corrected.
"But I thought you like teachers more since you have something going on with Miss Villaflor..." Adam laughed so hard after hearing my remarks and pinched me on the cheek, which earned a slap on his hand.
