Lily's POV.

The intense gaze of the two men made my legs stand without the permission of my brain. I feel like the center of everyone's attention.

BC's eyes were searching, it's like he's looking for a reason why Adrian is staring at me and when I looked into Adrian's eyes, they weren't as cold as I expected his eyes to be.

For some reason I find them soft, I don't know if everyone could see but his gaze wasn't that intimidating or is it only I see it that way.

I stood straight, some people am sure weren't even paying attention to us because I could hear indistinct talks from some direction and also there was silence to those who are staring.

Adrian walked pass bc with his hands in his pocket with slow mighty steps that aren't fast or slow. He came to stand in front of me making bc turn completely to face us.

"May I have this dance?" He asked but his voice came through my brain foggy like when you are sleeping and trying to process who's talking Because I was searching him, staring immensely looking for the reason behind his name.

If a person is set on fire, their body never goes back to being the way it was before but his skin is absolutely fine, smooth and even glowy.

Doesn't he have any scar?, Why is he scar? And what happened on that night after?

"Please" he added softer than he asked and I got drawn back to my surroundings. I looked down at his hand that's waiting for me to place mine in it.

Bc help. I don't wanna dance with him

"Sure" I smiled and placed my hand in his.

Wait..I did the opposite of what I was told to. What is wrong with my functioning today.

I wasn't scared, not any more, it's just a dance. What's the worst that can happen?

You mean Adrian hiding a bunch of assassin's and when he snap his fingers they jump on everyone and kill them?

Ok let's forget about me asking what's the worst that can happen part?.

The slow music started and he took my hand to the dance floor. He placed his hand on my waist and we started moving in a slow dance. The combination of our scent became strong for me to inhale but I kept smiling.

Not just any smile. The kind that I have been putting on for the past 5years with strangers making them step two feet away from me before they could speak.

"You have changed so much, if only I knew"
He whispered and my mind drafted back to the notes. I immediately push the thought aside.

"But I knew, you haven't changed one bit" I told him with no emotion on my face or voice whatsoever.

He chuckle. He did and am sure my ears and eyes aren't delusional

"you are not completely wrong?" He said

"Well..." Before I could complete my sentence, bc held my hand that's on Adrian's shoulder and said. "I think that's about enough" he pulled me a little and I stepped back .

"Kendrick my man! Why the sudden quick action, don't tell me you are scared I might run away with her"
Adrian said in a teasing tone as if they are best buds.

"This is not me being scared, you know that. And as for running away with lily" he smirked and looked at me for a second then he added " you can try!".

"Mr Hart, it's a pleasure as always".  I turned around only to find Venessa's dad standing alongside his cunning daughter.

She looked nice but I won't tell her, she had a smile on her face. The usual one# eye rolling#.

"Mr Richard, the pleasure is all mine" bc shook his hand and they started talking about business. I figured Venessa's dad wants to work with bc for long now but bc wasn't cooperating.

"You look nice. Better than usual" Venessa stood beside me and said flashing a smile and waving to some people as if her attention wasn't on me.

"Don't let me think you are jealous" I fired back.

" Jealous of a second hand dress" she scoffed. "you wish"

"You know it's a party, you should be happy if you push me too hard and leave here with your hair not ripped off" I told her and walked away.

Bc and I danced, we met a lot of influencial people that only he knew. I was starting to enjoy myself, Everytime I find Adrian's eyes on me, I felt Happy untill.

"Oops" Venessa deliberately because I know that is what it was. She threw her drink in my face when I turn around laughing at what bc said.

"You..." I grabbed his hand and stopped him from raising it at her. He looked furious.

My face feels sticky all the way to my chest. My dress is ruined.

I clench my jaw hard. So hard and marched forward, she feigned a sad face when everyone knows it's intentional

She wants to humiliate me as usual but no Venessa, absolutely NO.

As soon as I stood infront of her I slapped her hard and yelled "This is for thinking am an easy target"

I slapped her from the other side, "this is for picking on me every single day".

The sound of the third one echoes as her cheek became red. "This is for all my tears and suffering".

And this- "this is for my job and to let you know that now. Whatever it is going on, whatever game you are playing it's PERSONAL." I shouted with blood shot eyes.

I grabbed a wine bottle on a table and emptied the whole content on her and I threw it on the floor to shatter into pieces.

The music stopped and the silence came back. I don't care about anything or anyone else at the moment I just know that my message has been received.

Her eyes widen and he held both her cheeks with her palms, her dad and bc stood in shock but Adrian's face showed no emotion.

And I walked out.....
