Kendrick's POV.*
"Next?" I asked ma without turning my head and continue to stir the soup.
"Now the seasoning" she said from behind.
"You mean a pinch of salt, madam". I used a French accent, she chuckled.
"Is a pinch of salt the only thing you know?". I felt her eyeing me jokingly.
"That's what I see on TV" I replied honestly.
"Enough now, move aside. Let me continue." she stood up and I stepped aside.
"Go and set the table now". She requested.
Today I decided to stay home and spent a quality time with them. I have been busy for quite some weeks and I don't want work to stop me from bonding with my family.
I nod and took the plates on the counter and walked to the dinning room. Dad was sitting with a newspaper waiting for the food, he's such a foody.
Upon hearing my footsteps he folded and kept his paper on the table and began to rub his hands together in an exciting way.
"Wait a little bit more dad". I said and shook my head with his act.
His face fell "How much longer?"
"Come and find out". ma shouted from the kitchen.
"Exactly" I agreed with her, he glared at me.
I smiled.
After a good lunch with my family, I completed my office work and got some sleep.
My door flung open and i threw my head back with a frown for being forcefully drawn out of my dream world.
"Tell him we will watch a horror movie". Ma started.
Ok what...
"What's going on?" I asked with my eyes half closed.
"Your old man doesn't wanna watch a horror movie with me". she crossed her hands across her chest.
"It's 4pm, why should we watch a horror movie when it's daylight" dad argued.
"We are not watching some news in broad daylight either" she spat.
This is exactly what I have been also dealing with for the past five years. They argue about the tiniest of things like small kids. At first it was surprising and funny but now, It's still funny but mostly annoying and cute.
It only means they love each other alot.
"But the news-".
"Enough". I whined, rolling my eyes.
"You guys are so unbelievable. You are arguing about what to watch". I rolled my eyes dramatically.
"And plus. Horror movies are better." I added.
"I knew it". Ma cheered happily.
Dad just rolled his eyes and glare at me.
"Sorry dad but ma is always right". I shrug.
"Yeah yeah..like mother like son. Am going to my room". He stomped away.

My day went completely amazing with both of my favorite people. I took a shower and decided to have some coffee at my favorite cafe.
Trust me ma's coffee is amazing too but I was just in the mood for a little walk down the sideway, the view when the sun goes down and the cold breeze along with a nice long drive after.
It won't hurt to do something different apart from work for a day.
I ordered coffee and drank peaceful staring at the people of different hight, colour and personality from the big glass window.
I raised my shoulders and let them slouch while letting out a relaxing breath. I was about to get into the car when I heard her, I heard it.
The name I didn't hear for five years.
