Best friends to PR - lando Norris

Unexpected loss

We have a week off before the next race in Mugello which is a new circuit for Lando. He is doing extra preparation at the MTC with Daniel this week as it's new for them both. I'm currently eating breakfast waiting to drive to work with Lands as I need to sort out his schedule for the week as there will be fans at this circuit! "I'm ready Mols!" Lando calls from the front door, I walk over and he gives me a hug "gonna miss your face today! Wanna meet me for lunch?" I smile "I would love too" I tell him "cool, let's go!"

Once we arrive at the MTC I spot Charlotte waiting for me. I say a quick goodbye to lando "see you at lunch" he tells me. "Morning Charlotte" I say wandering over "Morning Mol, you okay?" I smile "I'm good, excited for a new track!" She laughs "you love F1 more than I ever expected you too!" I suppose I do "it's all my dads fault really, on our visit to Italy he took us to Imola as that's where he wanted to visit" she laughs "no escape for you then" I shake my head. We head to her office and start work on the schedule. I have 350 emails to respond to which is giving me a headache already, since Lando's P2 last week more people are interested in him than before.

I've managed about 200 emails before I notice my phone ring and it's my mum "you okay if I take this? She never normally calls" Charlotte nods "don't be silly" I hit accept and all I can hear is sobbing down the phone "mum? What's the matter?" She tries to calm her crying with deep breaths "it's your dad, he he he's gone" she stutters out and my heart sinks "gone where mum?" I question even though I know the answer "he's passed away, he had a heart attack last night" I feel my heart shatter and I breakdown into sobs.

Charlotte POV

Molly suddenly breaks down crying "Mol, what's the matter?" She is inconsolable and I can hear her mum on the phone so I grab it from her hand "Hello Mrs Lanes it's Charlotte Molly's colleague what's happening?" She steadies her breathing "her father died last night" I freeze and look at Mol who is currently sobbing into her hands "I'm going to look after her now, I will call you shortly" I quickly say hanging up "I'm so sorry" I say not really knowing what to say as I pull her into my arms. She is sobbing into my chest and I can't seem to calm her down but I know someone in the building who can. I call the Sim room and Jon answers "Hello Jon speaking" he says professionally "Hi Jon, I need Lando immediately" he sighs "I think your schedule can wait he is currently in the sim" I feel my voice going "it's Mol, her mother just called her Dad passed away" I hear Jon's sharp intake of breath "I will get Lando now" he informs me before hanging up the phone.

Lando POV

"Lando?" I hear Jon speak but I'm currently in the middle of a lap "I'm busy at the moment Jon" I say back trying not to sounds annoyed "it's Molly" I freeze she never bothers me when I'm in the sim "I'm sure it can wait?" I sort of question "it's her Dad Lando, he passed away last night her mother just called" my body starts moving before my brain catches up "I've got to go Jon" I mutter as I race out of the door. I run through the hallways avoiding people who get in my way. After a few minutes I'm outside her office but she isn't there so I check Charlottes and see them both huddled on the floor. My heart breaks just looking at her "oh Lando, thanks for coming so fast" I hear Charlotte speak but I just gently move her out of the way so I can hold Molly "thanks for looking after her" I say somewhat dismissing her from the room "I will grab some tea" she says exiting the room.

I pull her fully into my arms "I'm sorry Mols, so so sorry" she shakes her head and sobs into my chest. I'm not sure how long we sit here for before Charlotte returns with tea and Zak Brown. I look at him and he frowns "I'm sorry Molly for your loss" she composes herself in front of her boss "thank you, I'm sorry for how unprofessional I'm being" he shakes her head as she stands up shakily. "Don't be silly, you need to go home now and be with your mom" she tries to blink away her tears "I will take her" I say but Zak shakes his head "I'm sorry Lando but you need to be in the sim" I'm shocked "I think this takes priority" Zak frowns at me "Mugello is less than a week away you need to be here I'm afraid" Mols grabs my hand "I will be okay, I'm gonna go see my mum" she says getting her belongings together. I can't believe this "she shouldn't be driving" Charlotte chimes in "I can take her" and I frown "okay I will give you the address" I pull Mols into a hug "I will be there as soon as I can" she sniffles into my shirt "I get it I will see you later" and her and Charlotte head off.
