Best friends to PR - lando Norris

Race week

Molly POV
I wake up at 7 to give myself plenty of time to get to work. I can hear someone in the kitchen but I'm unsure if it's Charles or Lando at this point. I finish getting dressed and head down the stairs. I can hear Charles singing along to the radio so I know it's him before I enter the room. "Good morning Charles" I say from the door way. He jumps "Shit mon amour you scared me" I'm laughing hard by this point. He rolls his eyes at me "I have made you breakfast, overnight oats and fresh fruit" I smile "thank you Charles you didn't need to!" He smiles back "thanks for having me to stay!" We finish our meal, chatting and singing along to the radio. I go to grab my keys to head off to the MTC when Charles grabs my hand "I'm heading to the airport soon, I've really enjoyed this weekend with you please say you did also?" I smile at him "of course Charles, and I can't wait to see you in Bahrain in 4 days" he grins at me and pulls me in for a hug. I left with a smile on my face as I drove to work.

I arrived bang on time so rushed to my office, I started up my laptop and got to answering emails. One was from Zak Brown, I need to fill in for Lando's PA for the foreseeable future due to redundancies. I felt horrible for Jessica but it is a job I can manage as well. I was sent a list but it wasn't much as Lando prefers to do things for himself. Suddenly there was a knock on my door "come in" and I see Lando's face pop round the corner "Hi Mols" now I was quite annoyed that he never came home but it wasn't my place "Hey Lands, I'm your new PA so just let me know if you need anything" he frowns at me "I didn't come here on a work basis I wanted to check in with my best friend" I sighed " I think I'm the one who needs to check in on you really! How was your evening/sleepover" he starts smirking which I don't understand "I had a great time thanks, how was things with Charles?" I roll my eyes "he was great company thanks" he smiles at me " you sure you don't want to give him a chance?" I decide to not make a scene "I've told you we are just friends Lands, I like someone else" the shock on his face was evident "you like someone?!" I hadn't meant to say that, fuck, what do I say now. "Yes Lands, I have liked this person for a long time" his expression changes to a scowl "have you told them?" I sigh "nope, I don't want to ruin the friendship we have Lando" he freezes "it's me? You like me?" Fuck. I didn't phrase that well at all but it's out there now "okay I've been in love with you since we were 12 years old. I never wanted to ruin our friendship so I didn't mention anything ever and never planned on it" he took a moment to respond "okay I completely understand why you haven't said anything but I don't feel the same Mols, I'm sorry." I can't look him in the eye "it's okay Lands I get it. Can we act like I didn't say anything?" He sends me a small smile "sure thing, you are still my best mate Mols" I let out a breath I hadn't realised I had been holding "thanks Lands, here is your schedule for the weekend and your workout times with Jon" he nods "see you later Mols"

Lando Pov

I rush out of the MTC to my car, I can't believe she is in love with me and has been for 8 years. I never thought she would think of me like that. I've just started a relationship with Amelie and I want to see where it goes as I want to move on with my feelings for her. Shit this changes everything. I grab my phone and call Alex and George "Hey Lands" they both answer the phone "Hey lads, something crazy just happened, Mols said she loves me" both of the boys keep a neutral expression "we know she does, you have both been denying it for years" I shake my head "it's better to just be friends" Alex rolls his eyes "you are stupid Lando she is perfect for you and you would be happy together" I sigh "I can't lose her in a relationship failure" George pipes up now "I get it. Just don't miss your chance" I nod "I'm starting a relationship with Amelie and I really want to see how it goes" they both nod "that's fair but don't blow up your friendship with her over this" Alex says. I thank them both and hang up. I head back into the MTC to finish my afternoon on the Sim.

Molly POV

Shit, shit, shit. I shouldn't have told him. I didn't really mean to but it's out there now. He doesn't feel the same so it's time to move on. Focus on work and not think about it anymore.

I arrived home after finishing all my tasks at work to find Lando cooking?!
"Hey Lands what you doing?" He turns round "making dinner, don't worry I'm just reheating" he winks at me and my stomach flips. I nod "cool I'm just gonna go get changed" I walk out and head up the stairs and pop on some gymshark leggings and an oversized jumper. I make my way back down the stairs and Lando is dishing up.
"It's chicken and rice with some veggies and sauce" Lando says as I sit at the breakfast bar "Thanks Lands smells great, what bought on you cooking?" He smiles "just wanted to do something nice for you to be honest!" I smile and focus on eating my meal "I'm really sorry that I can't share your feelings" I choke on my food and cough to clear my throat "sorry, I know Lands, genuinely it's okay, I wasn't ever going to tell you but I can't try to move on if I didn't know what would happen" he nods processing my words "you are my best mate, always my number one" I smile at his words because I believe they are true "it's the same for you Lands"
We tidy up the kitchen and watch a movie then head to bed as we both need to be at the MTC tomorrow for pre race prep. I climb into bed and my phone starts ringing, it's Charles, I quickly answer "Hello Charles" I smile "Hello Mon Amour" something about hearing his voice brings me a lot of comfort. I tell him about the talk I had with Lando today and he is super nice about it "Lando is an absolute idiot" is what he thought of the situation. We chatted till I started to nod off and he told me he would call tomorrow which I'm really looking forward to.

I wake up to light streaming through my window, I check the time and it's only 6am. I drag myself out of bed and to the bathroom trying not to wake Lando, I get myself in the shower and get ready for a day in the office. I grab a banana as I head out the door and to my car. I arrive early but it gives me more time before other get in. I managed to get through 50 emails before 10am, my phone starts ringing I check the caller and it's Lando so I answer "Hello Lando" I hear a sigh of relief "Mols, you left early this morning? I didn't hear you go and I was worried" I let out a laugh "really sorry, I didn't realise you rely on my routine" he lets out a laugh now "just concerned, I will let you get on with your day now, see you at home" I say my goodbyes and continue with my work. At 2pm Carlos pops his head in my office "Hey there Mols" I smile up at him "Hey Carlos! how can I help you?" He takes a seat "are you and Lands okay he seems distracted these last days" I feel confused "he has started seeing a girl that might be it" Carlos is now confused "but surely if he was seeing a girl it would be you?!" "Huh? Why is that?" Carlos looks awkward "I didn't say anything, just wanted to check that he was okay" and he heads out. I feel confused for the rest of the day.

It's Bahrain this weekend and I think I'm fully prepared. I've made sure Lando has packed everything, sorted his schedule and got his tickets ready for the flight out. Tomorrow is flight day and I'm bricking it for sure.
