Harry is looking out the window while Louis drives. They are both silent but it's a comfortable silence. Harry drank a lot back at the party so Louis decided to take him home. It was a good thing Louis didn't drink that night because Harry was too drunk to give the right directions and he doesn't know where they would've ended up if he had followed Harry.
They arrive at Harry's house and Louis pulls over coming to a stop right in front of it. He turns to look at Harry who is now curled up into a ball in the passenger's seat, half asleep. He has his face pressed against the window and his shoes are off. Louis tries to hold back a smile when he notices his feet, it's silly but he finds really cute how considerate he was about that. It's also quite funny how he can't remember how to get to his home but he can remember to take off his shoes.
Louis gets out of the car and walks over to Harry's side opening the door carefully to make sure he doesn't fall. When Harry feels the door opening he moves his head and rests it in the back of his seat but he doesn't wake up. Louis strokes his arm gently.
"Harry, we're here, wake up." He says in a soft voice.
Harry opens his eyes pouting and Louis bites his lower lip trying to distract himself from how cute Harry looks right now.
"C'mon, I'll help you out." Harry starts to get out of the car when Louis puts a hand on his chest pushing back in the car. "Wait." He chuckles unfastening his seat belt and grabbing his shoes. Once he puts his shoes on Louis grabs Harry's arm and puts it on his shoulders. They get halfway into the front lawn when Harry looks up and stops walking.
"What is it?" Louis asks.
"Can I stay at your place tonight?" Louis opens his mouth but he doesn't say anything. "Please."
Harry looks at Louis almost begging and although Louis should probably say no because his mum could find out about it, he just can't bring himself to do so.
"Fine, but you're making me breakfast tomorrow."
"Deal."
They get back in the car and go to Louis house. When they get inside they try not to make too much noise but they fail at their attempt when they get to the stairs. Harry's too drunk to be able to walk in a straight line let alone up the stairs but the stairs are too narrow for both of them to fit through so they were bound to make noise. When they finally reach Louis's room, Louis puts Harry down in the bed and shuffles through his clothes to find something that is big enough to fit Harry. After a few minutes he finds a shirt that he got for his birth that he had to change because his aunt thought he would've grown a bit more (her words not his) and some tracksuit bottoms that he wore around the house because they were also too big for him. He helps Harry get dressed and then puts him back in the bed and tucks him in.
"If you need anything I'll be downstairs, night." Louis starts to turn to go when he feels Harry's hand grab his wrist. The touch is soft yet demanding. Louis stops and turns around again.
"Can you stay?" Louis nods his head and grabs the blanket that's on the edge of the bed. He lays next to Harry and covers himself with the blanket, giving him one last smile before shutting his eyes.
The next morning, when Louis opens his eyes, he finds himself still laying next to Harry. For some reason he thought it was just a dream but it wasn't.
Louis doesn't exactly know how it happened but it happened. Now Harry, his mortal enemy, is laying next to him fast asleep and Louis can't help but think he is adorable. Alright, he should probably stop thinking of him as his mortal enemy but it's hard when that's all he's ever been until now. He stares at him not being able to do anything else for what feels like hours (just two minutes, but still) until he notices one of Harry's curls on his face. He tries to fight off the urge to tuck it behind his ear but it's useless; he reaches out and softly places the curl behind his ear making him wake up. Harry looks up at him and gives him a closed-lipped smile.
"Morning." His voice is raspy and deeper than usual.
"Morning, do you sleep well."
"Mm hm" Harry murmurs, still half asleep.
"Good... That means you have enough energy to make me that breakfast you promised." He put on a smug face. Harry narrows his eyes before burying his face into the pillow. "What? you promised."
Harry rubs his eyes trying to wake up.
"Technically I didn't promise you anything, plus I'm hungover, have a little mercy on me."
"Fine, but you still owe me breakfast." Louis gets up and goes to the kitchen. He prepares two bowls of cereal and a glass of water and then he ruffles through one of the drawers which seems to find some medicine in it. When he finds the Advil he puts it all in a tray and he goes upstairs to find Harry in the exact spot he was when he left.
"Here." He says handing Harry the glass of water and the pill. When he's drunk the whole glass, Louis hands him a bowl of cereal and sits down on his desk chair grabbing the other. They eat in silence for a bit but Louis' curiosity is driving him crazy.
"Why didn't you want to go back to yours last night?" He asks.
Harry completely stills and his eyes drop to the floor. His whole face drops and his posture becomes more tense. It is clear to Louis that whatever it is, it's bothering Harry a lot but he doesn't know if he should ask anymore or drop it. He decides to drop it but before he can tell Harry that he doesn't have to answer he starts speaking.
"Look, it's just complicated. Can we not talk about it?"
"Sure, that's fine."
