The rest of that day went by quickly. I made dinner for myself and fell to sleep after Tumblr. The next day flew by just as quickly. Nothing really important happened at school and Alec was still missing in action. I saw him fourth period though, because Natalia was in that class as well and she probably wanted to give him some freetime, while still watching his every move. I was able to talk to him for a little and give him my address since he offered to pick me up knowing that I hitch rides from Amy everyday. It was just super boring, so it didn't matter. Saturday was all I cared about. Luckily, it was here. Tonight Alec and I were going to... do something. I don't think we really planned that part out. Whatever, we were hanging out. Just the two of us.
I strutted around the empty house hearing no fighting or violent "make up" sex. I entered the kitchen to find a vacant pizza box. Yes, I ordered pizza. Did you really think I made dinner? I picked up the box and discarded it into the trash can. I noticed a trail of ants near it. Shit. I looked around to find conveniently located bug spray. Nowhere to be found.
I marched over to the cabinets. Okay, in one of these is all of the bug spray stuff. I opened the first one, and I found plates and cups. I actually knew that stuff was in there, I just wanted to prolong this because I don't want to kill ants. I am not a killer. I would never kill anything or anyone; except for maybe Steve or Natalia. That's beside the point.
I checked the next few cabinets and I found rather strange things I never knew about and things that I did know about that I will not disclose at this moment. Still no bug spray though. I stood before the final cabinet. Please have something. I opened it. It did. A bunch of random sprays to clean bathrooms and some bleach. I'll use some Windex.
I grabbed the spray and approached the little demons. They were perfectly following each other and made sure not to bump into another ant. Poor ants, I hope they counted on dying today. I pulled out my weapon of destruction and started to obliterate the ants. They all stopped in their tracks as the spray stunned them. I grabbed the broom and opened the back door. I swept all of the poor insects that probably had a family and kids out the door.
Well, that is done with. It was time to go to Amy's house. We were going to lay out the battle plan. By battle plan I meant, what I should do when I go on the date with Alec. Sorry, did I say date? I meant... a non-date? I don't know. That was the best I could do. Whatever. I exited my house and stood in front of her house. I was about to knock when the door flew open and a crazed scene girl hugged me.
"COLE!" Skyler shrieked. Her arms were wrapped around me tightly. I had no choice but to return the notion. Amy eventually emerged from the building.
"Oh, I forgot to tell you, Skyler's here," Amy smiled. I glared at her while still embracing Skyler.
"Oh, what fun," I finally spoke. Skyler let go of me and gave an unnatural grin. I smiled back and entered the house quickly. We walked by the living room where her parents were cuddled up together watching Jerry Springer. At least, I thought it was. I heard a bunch of black people yelling something about "baby daddies" and a bunch of beeps because that show consisted mostly of bad words. They looked over and waved to me. I waved back.
We came across their staircase and ventured upward. We found Amy's room and walked in. She opened the door and as usual her music was booming. It was halfway through "Anything Could Happen" by Ellie Goulding. I wanted to jump around and dance, but I thought that might be a little awkward. I sat down on her bed and Skyler sat next to me. Amy went over to the stereo and turned it down a few hundred levels. It was still pretty loud, but we could talk at this volume.
"Skyler, what are you doing here?" I finally asked the question on everyone in the world's minds.
"Do you want me to go or something?" Skyler answered with a hurt expression.
