“I AM SO GONNA KILL HIM!” Alec shouted at the top of his lungs. I sat on his bed with my belongings by my side. I had just arrived at his house about ten minutes before and I explained the entire sitch to him. He was angry. It was a little hot though, I must admit.

“You don’t have to kill him,” I said finally realizing I should calm him down. Yeah, Steve was an asswipe, but he didn’t deserve to die. Okay, well maybe he did. Whatever, karma will get him back in the end. I hope.

“Yeah, I do! How could he do something so vile? SO EVIL!”

“He’s Steve. Can we just forget about this? I mean, it’s over.”

“He told your parents your biggest secret! Your dad reacted in the worst way ever and now you are forced to live with your boyfriend’s family for the rest of your life.”

“Okay, it sounds a little bad when you say it like that... And I’m not going to live with you for the rest of my life,” I uttered with wide eyes near the end of that sentence. Yeah, that wasn’t the best thing to say.

“You don’t want to spend the rest of your life with me?” he asked with a sad expression. I came close to him and gave him a tiny kiss.

“Of course I do. That came out wrong; I meant that I didn’t want to live with your family for the rest of my life. I don’t think you should want to either. That’s weird. I would love to spend the rest of my life with you.”

“Oh, right. I should’ve rephrased that. Sorry, Steve just really pissed me off. When I get my hands on him…”

“Speaking of living with your parents, are they fine with me staying here?”

“Well duh! You are like family. In a way. Plus they have been dying to meet you.”

“At least someone’s parents are happy to see me.”

“Hey, forget about your dad. He is a jerk. Fuck him. Hey, I got the perfect thing for this,” he said walking over to his speaker with his iPod in hand. He plugged it in and the beginning of ‘Fuck You’ by Lily Allen was playing. I smiled really big and cheesily. We both started singing and shouted the part that said ‘So You Say, It’s Not Okay To Be Gay, Well I Think You’re Just Evil’ to commemorate my dad. We continued to sing and dance around after that.

“Oh my gosh, I needed that. Thank you,” I cheered.

“I didn’t know you liked Lily Allen.”

“Hey, everyone should. She is amazing. Plus, she isn’t really indie but she isn’t too mainstream either. She’s perfect,” I explained.

“I have another song,” he said walking back to the speaker. “I don’t know if I should ask this or not, but do you like P!nk?”

“You mean the only mainstream artist that is acceptable to listen to?”

“Really?” he asked surprised.

“Well, she has those obvious mainstream anthems but they are also real. She is one of the most real artists in the world and that really shows in her slower songs as well. Those are absolutely perfect.”

“Wow, okay. Well she and Lily have a song together on her new album. It’s called True Love,” he said before pressing play and giving me maybe the greatest three minutes and fifty one seconds of my life.

“I’m in love,” I said stilling playing the songs amazing chorus through my head over and over. The song was honest, funny and undeniably catchy. “How have I not heard this before?”

“Do you know who Nate Ruess i-“

“Uh duh! Lead singer of the used-to-be indie band Fun. He betrayed us and went mainstream.”
