Sophie had explained how the dirt, the earth, was only the first stage of Davina's magical deterioration. They presented themselves in four stages as the four elements. Earth, then wind, then water, and lastly fire. And each stage grew worse and worse. And with fire being the last, it would also be the strongest. It would burn New Orleans to the ground... again. Rebekah and Katherine relayed the news to Davina, who didn't take it well and had to be calmed with a sedative because the more she panicked the faster she'd deteriorate. Marcel, on the other hand, took it much worse than Davina did. Even Isa could not get through to him. Because the only way to stop this and save Davina was to complete the Harvest, kill her and hope that she was resurrected.
Nik, at Marcel's request, had gone to inform the leader of the human faction of New Orleans about the current predicament. The humans of New Orleans worked with Marcel in the form of a small council. They agreed to let Marcel and his vampires feed on humans so long as they weren't locals and so long as they didn't kill anybody. The council monitored the number of tourists coming and leaving the city, and the number of deaths in between and informed Marcel should the number grow too big. The leader of said council, was one Kieran O'Connell, a priest and Father of the church where Marcel had hidden Davina.
And while Nik was out, Elijah and Katherine were at the cemetery, where Celeste's bones would be consecrated. Rebekah on the other hand was ensuring Isa stayed in bed at Nik's request. And all while that was occurring, Marcel absconded with a sickly sleeping Davina.
Now Elijah and Katherine were trying to have a locater spell done as Sophie consecrated Celeste, Rebekah was searching New Orleans high and low and Nik and Isa had gone to the church to speak to Father Kieran, and where Isa discovered something that both warmed and broke her heart.
Nik had asked the Father to give shelter to a small pack of werewolves, to whom Nik had donated food and clothes. They were his clan. The werewolf pack and bloodline that he had descended from. That their child would be descended from. And Isa being the pregnant hormonal vampire that she was had burst into tears when she'd found out, amazed at her husband's heart even after all these years.
Her tears had stopped instantly though, as they now sat in the compound, where Elijah proposed the wonderous idea that they let Sophie Deveraux become a powerful Elder by consecrating the magic in Esther's bones, seeing as Celeste's was devoid of any. Katherine was mostly silent throughout most of the debate, Esther having no contact with that particular Petrova doppelganger, but the others were quite vocal. Rebekah was the only one against it. Nik and Isa who'd both been hurt one too many times by Esther agreed with Elijah in his plan to put Esther to use and then put her to rest permanently.
Once Esther was buried on ground owned by her descendants and consecrated, all of her descendants would share her ancestral magic as a New Orleans witch. The Originals would then act as conduits, channelling that magic into Sophie Deveraux, making her an Elder. Elijah had even come up with a plan as to how to find land owned by Esther's descendants, for they may all be dead as vampires but there was one still alive. The baby. And with the baby's blood flowing through her veins, Isa had become the temporary owner of the plantation land, at least until the baby was born.
"And since this decision is a family decision, it must be unanimous," Elijah said as he called a vote.
"I'm in," Nik piped up instantly.
"As am I," Elijah agreed with his brother and eyes fell on Katherine.
"Oh, I get a say in this?" she asked in surprise, from her chair.
Elijah merely gave her a kind smile. "You have stuck around this long Katerina, helped us, and even made peace with Niklaus of all people. I'd say you are part of this family and therefore entitled to a vote."
