Nik had entrusted the task of acquiring the stones for the moonlight rings to Julian and his second-in-command, Christian. Except they didn't return when they were supposed to meet Nik. And then when Nik and Elijah went to investigate, they found their car abandoned on the road.
Elijah then contracted Geneiveve to do a locator spell which led the brothers to a warehouse full of C4 that was rigged to blow. As they freed the two wolves, Marcel had recognised the bomb, at least the pieces that remained after Nik accidentally tripped a motion detector and they barely escaped with their lives. They were vampire made, a bomber Marcel had turned a few decades ago, had used him to help remove the werewolves from the quarter. Apparently, some of the vampires were leading a revolt now that they'd found out that the wolves were going to become lethal to them 24/7. How they found out was yet to be discovered.

But had they listened to Marcel, listened to the Mikaelsons, and the treaty, they would've learned that they had no reason to fear the wolves who wanted nothing more than to be free of their pain.

Nik and Marcel had then contracted Francesca, leader of the human faction to work with them. She happened to be a procurer of rare items on short notice. With her price being protection, allegiance, and full disclosure of their plan, Francesca had handed over the small number of rare kyanite gemstones she was able to scrounge up. But Isa had a bad feeling about her. The way she worded her sentences, certain tones in her voice, and double meanings, led Isa to believe that she was hiding something.

Isa was a ball of nerves as she, Katherine, Genevieve, and Francesca stood in the dining room, and Genevieve performed the modified spell from Esther's grimoire to enchant the stones. Nik, Elijah, and Marcel had gone to fight the rogue vampires. Marcel had been both surprised and hurt to learn that their ringleader was none other than Diego.

Isa held tight to Katherine's hand when Genevieve had announced she was finished. But rather than turn over the stones to Isa, Genevieve shocked them when she handed to stones to Francesca. "What the hell are you doing?" Isa demanded as she approached Francesca, who stood next to one of her bodyguards.

"You're a fool if you think that the humans can stand against Klaus and the Originals," Katherine snarled.

"Oh, but honey. I'm not human," Francesca said with a smile before she drew a knife and slashed the throat of her bodyguard. Isa flinched back as Francesca doubled over in pain. "And now I'm going to take back my town," she said as she rose, her eyes yellow. She wasn't human after all. Francesca was a werewolf.

"Like hell you are," Isa growled as she advanced on Francesca only to be magically knocked out by Genevieve. Katherine didn't get very far either as Francesca threw her knife and it pierced Katherine's heart as the girl crumpled to the floor.

And that was just the start of where things began to go downhill.

One by one the Guerrera wolves killed a human, triggering their curse only to have Francesca throw them a stone. Each stone was bound with Nik's blood since he already had the power to control his shifting. And for every ring that was used, the more power was drawn from Nik as he suffered the pain of their turning while they grew more powerful. While all this happened, Elijah and Marcel were overrun by the wolves. Nik's family was unable to help them as they fled to chain themselves up before the moon was high. And while that happened, Genevieve had taken Isa but the spell she'd used caused a placental abruption which resulted in a premature delivery that not even vampire blood could heal.

Isa had never felt agony like this as she was dragged onto the steps of the altar inside Father Kieran's old church, St. Anne's. It felt quiet literally like someone was trying to rip out her entire abdomen rather than just the baby as she cried, her screams echoing off the walls. "It's too soon! This can't be happening!" she wailed as her hands were wrestled down. "Let me go!" she snarled as she yanked one of the witches closer to her before she sank her fangs into their neck.
