Nik placed the magic-proof cuffs into Marcel's hands as Isa leaned against the desk in the study, rocking side to side with Hope in her arms.

"I honestly don't know why I keep packing these away. There's always one family member or another in need of a good shackling. Find Rebekah or Eva or whoever the bloody hell that was trying to take my child and use these to stop her from doing magic. And don't hurt her, my sister is still in there," he asked going from angry to calm within a few words.

"I won't be the only one looking for her, Father. She killed witch kids. The 24-hour hold that Elijah got the covens to agree to ended at midnight. Every witch in the city is going to be gunning for her," Marcel said.

"Take your mother and Elijah, between the two of them they should be able to charm Elijah's witch friend into getting another reprieve while you search for your lover," Nik suggested.

"And Hope? I can't leave her," Isa said worriedly as she clutched her daughter tighter to her chest.

"My love, everything will be fine. Julian's entire pack is here, and so am I and Katerina. She'll be safe, I swear to you," Nik promised as Isa reluctantly handed over her daughter.

"And I assume you'll be attending to some dirty work while we're gone?" she asked knowingly, and Nik just smiled as he lowered his lips to kiss Hope's forehead. "Be nice to her, and you better keep the baby as far from that as possible," Isa warned as kissed his cheek before she and her son strode from the room.

Kol was still out searching for Davina while Isa, Elijah, and a young vampire named Gia went to talk to Josephine. Gia was how Elijah got the witch to agree to the reprieve in the first place as she was the most skilled musician in Marcel's army and had helped sway Josephine with her rather remarkable violin playing. But she was a musician that Isa could tell was attracted to her brother, but also suspected held back due to the gold band around his finger, lest she anger a Mikaelson. And while Josephine told Eva's story, Marcel heard it from Vincent himself, how Eva wanted to sacrifice 9 kids, one from every coven to make her stronger than any witch, than any Harvest girl.

Nik, however, was talking to Freya about Rebekah's condition, after having apologised for Kol's actions and his assistance in them. Despite that, Freya could not help for she didn't know of a spell capable of breaching Eva's mind and retrieving Rebekah before plunging her into her original body. But while Freya lacked that knowledge, Nik did happen to know someone who knew the exact spell they needed. He allowed Freya to come along too, but she wasn't allowed to come unless she wore the magic-proof cuffs because if she really was his sister, then Nik was well versed in the temper that could simmer beneath the surface of her otherwise placid personality.

Freya had reluctantly let him clasp the shackles on her, believing the actions to gain the trust of her brothers. And the real reason for those cuffs wasn't to protect Nik but to protect Esther whose tomb Nik led Freya into. He lured his starving mother out from her dark corner as he threw two blood bags onto the floor, a line of sunlight shining through the cracked ceiling as it separated them. And even when the sun went down, Esther was spelled inside the tomb.
Freya stuck close to Nik who laughed at the sight of the ravenous vampire scrounging for scraps as she lunged for the bags, keeping her face hidden beneath her hair. This was truly some of Isa's best work but Freya didn't share the same opinion because she tried to leave the second she saw who it was. Nik's arm wrapped around her though, keeping her at his side. "Mother, Freya. Freya, our darling Mother, Esther," Nik introduced, and Lenore's face appeared from the shadows.

"It can't be," she groaned, still healing slowly from her desiccation.

Freya grew angry. "You don't trust me, but you would trust her?!" she spat.
