The day carried on and Alexandra came back to the plantation house after some time. She helped Cami clean Rousseau's so that she could get some more study done. Alexandra smiled towards Niklaus who was lighting the dead vampires on fire. He sent her a small smile back as she entered the house and walked upstairs to find something to do.
Alexandra sat on the floor of the study, next to a chest full of old things. Alexandra noticed a big book that looked like a journal and picked it up. As she opened to the first page, Elijah's name was written across it gracefully along with the year '1359'. Alexandra debated with herself whether to read it or not, she didn't want to go through Elijah's stuff but at the same time it couldn't have anything bad written in it. Alexandra opened to a random page before reading.
'August 1359. I have noticed a difference in my siblings. Our bond strains beneath the pressure of our life as vampires. Each day removes them further from the humanity we once possessed. My sweet sister, Rebekah, has grown quite indifferent to brutality. However, the true problem remains my brother, Niklaus. He continues to hide his loneliness with cruelty. Still, I cling to the hope that I, as their eldest brother, can lead them down the correct path, a path charged with the power of a family united. For if I fail, our family's legacy will end in darkness.'
Alexandra stopped reading and frowned to herself at the words. Elijah was known to be a big family man, he always put his siblings before himself. Alexandra wondered why he didn't just take a leap of faith and make his own path.
"Read anything interesting?" Elijah asked as he leaded against the doorframe. Alexandra looked up and quickly shut the journal placing it back in the chest. She stood up and dusted off her jeans.
"Elijah, I'm sorry. I know it's kind of snooping but I was-" Alexandra started to justify herself. Elijah held his hand up and shook his head as his lips tilted upwards slightly.
"It's okay Alexandra. I don't have anything to hide. Please, whenever you are bored, you may read them." Elijah explained. Alexandra let out a breathe she didn't realize she had been holding before nodding. Elijah gestured to the door and Alex walked past him, making her way down stairs.
"I cannot believe you disposed of those vampires without me. You know how I love to set things on fire." Rebekah exclaimed in annoyance as she looked out the window to see the now burnt bodies of the vampires from last night. Niklaus chuckled.
"Was I supposed to leave them in the front yard to rot? Besides, they were my responsibility. They attacked the helpless pregnant girl who's carrying my child." Niklaus asked as Elijah and Alexandra stepped into the room. Rebekah sent them a smirk while Niklaus just glanced at them before looking away.
"Oh, I am so moved by your newfound sense of fatherly duties towards the werewolf carrying your hybrid bun in her oven." Rebekah shot back. Alexandra let out a chuckle while moving further into the room and sitting down in one of the spare chairs. Hayley rounded to corner with a journal in her arms. Alexandra's eyes narrowed down upon it confused, she glanced up at Elijah and noticed he too was looking at it.
"Is that my journal?" Elijah asked. Hayley paused just noticing his presence in the room. She looked down at the journal before meeting Elijah's stares. She nodded and watched him closely, she now felt guilty for reading it without asking.
"Umm, yeah. I should have asked. It was just sitting on the bookshelf in the library. It's from 1687." Hayley explained. Elijah narrowed his eyes further down upon it before reaching out a hand. Hayley handed it to him before clearing her throat. "The werewolf would like to know what the plan is."
Alexandra sat in silence and just watched as Elijah's eyes stayed trained on the journal, it made her wonder why.
"Well, that depends what plan you mean, love: My plan for global domination, Rebekah's plan to find love in a cruel, cruel world, or Elijah's plan to ignore me until the world ends." Niklaus asked. Elijah rolled his eyes while Rebekah picked up a pencil from the desk beside her and throws it in Klaus's direction. Alexandra shrinks as the pencil comes flying towards her instead. She closed her eyes ready for the impact, but it never came. As Alexandra opened her eyes she noticed the pencil had been caught just millimeters from her face.
