"No one but Sophie and I ever questioned the Harvest. Not even my own mother. So neither did Davina. They thought it was such an honor, they had such faith. They were so stupid." Alexandra stood up and started pacing. She couldn't sit still while explaining this all to Elijah, she felt like exploding.

"So how did it begin?" Elijah asked. Alexandra gestured to him. He stood up and walked over to her, now standing in front of Alex, she clasped her hands in his showing him the memories.

"They were led out like princesses. My mother was so proud of Davina."

Night time surrounded them as present Alex and Elijah stood in the shadows of Lafayette Cemetery. They watched as the elders lead four girls out of a tomb, up to the sacrificial alter. There were birdbaths with liquids that lit on fire, burning around them.

"Our magic fades as our ties to our ancestors weaken over time. We beseech them, accept this offering as a sign of our faith." Bastiana spoke as all four girls kneeled in a row on the alter. A crowd of people surrounded them.

"Bastiana, one of the Elders, called upon the four elements to bind our past and future magic together. Earth, to connect us to our ancestors. Water, to heal the community. Wind, to carry them to our ancestors and back. Fire, to purify. After all their preparation, they knew exactly what to expect. For weeks they told them that the magic in the knife they used to cut their palms would put them to sleep, and that later at the Reaping, they would all be resurrected. They said they'd awaken, and all be together and more powerful than ever. And it was just like they rehearsed it. All that was left was a little cut on our palms for the blood sacrifice." Present Alexandra spoke from beside Elijah. His eyes drifted down to her as she stared into the memory, her eyes never leaving Davina.

The first harvest girl stood up as they got ready to start, but suddenly they paused as Alexandra and Sophie came running into the cemetery.

"No! Stop! Bastiana, stop!" Sophie yelled as a man wrapped his arm around her, stopping her from approaching any further.

"You have to stop, Bastiana, please don't do this!" Past Alexandra yelled as another male witch held onto her tightly. Both men covered Sophie and Alex's mouths, stopping them from screaming out.

"Even after Sophie and I tried to stop it, they still didn't suspect anything." Present Alexandra continued. Elijah turned his head to stare back at the witches.

"To be reborn, you must sacrifice. Do you have faith?" Bastiana asked. The girl in front of her nodded in response and held out her hand for the blood sacrifice. Alexandra closed her eyes not wanting to watch as she slit the girl's throat. Elijah however did watch, he watched as Bastiana raised the sacrificial knife and sliced the girl's throat, and the young witch fell to the ground. Elijah gasped in shock. The other three girls start to scream in terror, but they're also restrained so that they couldn't run away. Past Alexandra screamed into the man's hand as tears fell from her eyes.

"Everyone involved in the ritual knew that this would happen." Elijah stated. Alexandra opened her eyes, tears now running down her face as she relived the memory.

"Except the four of them. They weren't putting them to sleep, they were slaughtering them all!" Alexandra responded. The continued to watch the scene in front of them as Bastiana moved onto the next harvest girl, doing the same. She tried to sped up, to get it over with and moved over to Monique.

"No, no!" Davina cried as she struggled in the witches arms, watching as Bastiana killed her best friend.

"Davina begged for someone to help. My own mother turned away from her. Sophie and I screamed and screamed for her sister, anyone, to do something." Alex added as she wrapped her arms around herself. She didn't want to be here anymore and Elijah could tell, yet he needed to know the rest.

"What is wrong with you!?" Past Alexandra shouted towards her mother. Jane-Anne glanced at her and Sophie worried, but did nothing.

"No one did anything while Sophie and I struggled." Alex finished. Elijah looked at her and raised an eyebrow.

"And yet Davina survived. Therefore, someone or something intervened." Elijah wondered. Alexandra nodded.

"Yes. Someone finally did." Alex said before gesturing back to the witches of the past.

A shrill whistle could be heard, and a group of vampires led by Marcel, infiltrates the cemetery and they started killing all the witches. Elijah's breathing caught in his throat as he watched.

"Marcel." Elijah whispered.

The vampires attacked and killed most of the elders. One vampire bit into Bastiana and fed on her until she died. Alexandra's eyes drifted and she watched as another vampire bit into her mother, draining her to the point of death. Davina screamed, hysterically and tried to break free from the witches grasp. Agnes picked up the knife from the ground and looked towards Davina. She stopped herself when she noticed Marcel grabbing Davina protectively.

Alexandra pulled herself and Elijah out of the memory and back into the Plantation. Alex left him standing in the middle of the room while she poured herself another glass of scotch.

"Every girl who died released her power on to the next. When Davina was the last one, she suddenly had all of it, all the power that was supposed to be released back into the earth to appease our ancestors." Alexandra explained while spinning around and leaning against the office desk. Elijah shoved a hand into his pocket and took a step closer to her.

"So... the Harvest was actually working?" Elijah asked. Alexandra shrugged, maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. Right now, they'd never know.

"Something was working. And I knew that Davina was supposed to be killed so the Harvest could be completed and they would all be resurrected. But, they lied to them about how they were killing them all. How did we know they weren't lying about them coming back? But mostly, I just didn't want Davina to die. So, I let him save her. Marcel saved Davina's life." Alexandra finished the story and Elijah stood there taking it all in. He looked almost disgusted by how Davina and Alexandra had been treated, and he felt sorry for both girls.

Alexandra thought for a moment before glancing up into Elijah's eyes. "Your brother Klaus almost handed you to Marcel in a box. He kept you daggered for 2 weeks in the basement, yet you still don't give up on him?"

"Well, I've given up on giving up. It's an affliction. I will fight for my family until my last breath." Elijah stated. Alexandra smiled and nodded.

"At the end of the day both Davina and I will fight the witches until ours." Alex replied. Elijah smiled before gesturing to the door. Alexandra had looked out a window and only just noticed that it was now night time. They had used the whole day to discuss the past.
