Chapter 28

Gahyeon watched as Binnie finally left the room after doing her business. Gahyeon was locked in a cell, heavy chains connecting her to the cold stone walls. She looked up and saw spikes on the ceiling, probably in case Binnie needed to kill her. A stack of pastries from Miracle Kingdom's kitchens were inside a bucket kept on the floor, alongside a metal water faucet. "I only restock food once a month, so choose your daily amount wisely," Gahyeon read off a note attached to the bucket. I guess this is where I shall spend the rest of my life in- a cold, dirty prison cell in an unknown kingdom. At least Yubin is safe, she thought. She was also glad that Binnie made the chains as far as possible, so Gahyeon could reach the bucket from the stone mattress she was chained to.

"Hello? Is anyone else here?" Gahyeon asked. If this was a dungeon, surely there must be other people with her, right?

A yawn was heard from the cell next to her. "Oh? There's a new prisoner?" a female voice said out loud.

Chains from another cell were heard moving. "I've never seen her before. She doesn't look like she's from here," a male voice said.

"Finally! Someone else to talk to besides these two and that monster Binnie!" another female voice was heard.

There were no more sounds after that, so Gahyeon assumed that she only had 3 other fellow prisoners.

"Well, my name is Lee Gahyeon, and I'm the Grand Master of Insomnia Kingdom's girlfriend..." Gahyeon nervously told them.

"Insomnia Kingdom?!? The girlfriend of the Grand Master?!? Man, how did Bin not get caught yet? I'm Hyejin, by the way, but you can call me JinE." the first female replied.

JinE? Isn't she another advisor of Hyojung? Gahyeon thought. "She did, but she got away because she made my life get on the line."

"As expected of her. She always gets away. Everyone just assumes that I was executed, but in reality, I was framed by her and kept here! I go by Jimin." the man said.

"And I'm Sera," the last female introduced herself.

"I'm glad that I'm not the only one here in this stinky place," Gahyeon told them.

"It's so sad that your girlfriend is still out there, knowing that you're separated from her," Sera commented.

"Yeah. It really is. I miss her so, so much. She was one of the few people who made me feel like I had a purpose. She's probably worried to death! May I ask how you all... got here?"

Gahyeon heard a sigh from Jimin. "I'm part of the Royal Court here. Well, I was. Some random robber broke into our archives and tried to steal our List of Laws. Binnie pinned everything on me and somehow killed the real guy before he was caught. What kind of justice would steal an important document? Binnie told everybody that she executed me herself, though in reality I am kept here in this miserable place so she can threaten my fiancée."

"Oh my goodness! I'm sorry for asking!" Gahyeon was shocked. Underneath that bright smile, Binnie was actually a cruel villain who made Hyojung her puppet.

"No, it's fine. My fiancée is at least still alive, so it gives me hope," Jimin replied.

"That's relieving to hear. I don't want more innocent people to die."

"Man, I used to be Hyojung's favorite advisor, besides Seunghee. And now everyone assumes that I've resigned, when in reality, I'm here because Binnie caught me telling Hyojung things about her! Of course, Hyojung never believed me. But now I'll probably be stuck here until I die. There's no use escaping, traps are laid literally everywhere. Binnie is the only one who can reach the candleholder. Besides, when she's not here, it's nearly pitch black, as you can see. Only the two candles in the front are lit," JinE told Gahyeon.

"Oh... JinE, Advisor Seunghee's dead... Binnie made her kill herself... it's really complicated..."

"Oh my! Binnie's on a killing spree! Well, I'm sure Hyojung is very devastated. She always called Seunghee her "happy drug". Hopefully I can attend the funeral, if we get freed."

"Speaking of getting freed, I remember the time when Advisor Wonwoo tried to escape. He died in the process, and Binnie wasn't even there. I also did NOT want to see that at all. Binnie isn't sadistic, but she still refused to clean up that mess until, like, three weeks later. The reason why I'm here is because I'm a manor owner who disagreed with some of Queen Hyojung's laws. Binnie pulled some strings and said that I burned down a public courtroom because of this, which isn't true! She burned it down herself!" Sera told Gahyeon.

Wow. I never should've trusted her, Gahyeon thought. "Well, at least I'll spend the rest of my life with some nice people to talk with, I guess." Gahyeon joked, trying to lighten up the situation. "Though I do have some hope, since I know my Yubin would never give up on me... right?"

"We are terribly sorry, Bora, for leaving so soon due to Binnie's actions!" Hyojung was bidding farewell to Insomnia Kingdom. It was time for her and her advisors (and YooA) to go back to Miracle Kingdom so she could deal with Binnie. Yubin would also accompany them, so she could rescue Gahyeon.

"It's okay! I hope we can meet again one day! Keep in touch!" Bora hugged her new friend. "Good luck dealing with Binnie, she's a real trickster. It must be hard."

"It really is. She's been by my side for several long years, and I still cannot believe that she would do such things!" Hyojung replied. "Anyways, the horses are ready. This is where we say goodbye, I guess."

The two queens bowed to each other. "Let's meet again, Hyojung. Be safe!" Bora waved as Hyojung hopped onto her horse and galloped away with the others.

Yubin was determined to find Gahyeon as fast as possible. Even if she died at the hands of Binnie, she would make sure to save her girlfriend from Binnie's clutches.

Don't worry, Gahyeonie. We're coming for you, she thought as she galloped faster.
