Chapter 6

Chaos was everywhere. The party guests were trying to get out of the castle all at once, and Gahyeon got separated from her master, Handong. Noticing that she lost her protector, Gahyeon went even further down the many halls of the castle. She was lost, but she wasn't really aware of that. She just felt like she needed to run.

Gahyeon heard footsteps behind her. Then, they were around her. She was being followed! Gahyeon ran outside into a royal garden, running as fast as she could. The assassin was catching up to her very easily- Gahyeon didn't have the stamina. Gahyeon dared to turn around, and lost her footing. She fell down helplessly. She saw that her killer had reddish-orange hair that was hidden in her black garments. Gahyeon was lucky that she had good eyesight, since she was able to see the red locket with a black arrow above the initials "YA".

As the bounty hunter was about to make her move, she was suddenly pushed out of the way by a figure. Gahyeon opened her eyes in confusion. Wasn't she supposed to die?

"You are NOT going to hurt her!" the figure who saved Gahyeon shouted at the bounty hunter. The orange-haired bounty hunter tried to run, but instead felt sleepy. She was hit with a sleeping dart! She fell asleep on the grass. The woman who saved Gahyeon smirked in triumph.

"Are you okay, ma'am? Gahyeon, was it?" the woman asked her. She had a simple dress on and had short, brown hair. Gahyeon realized that it was Lee Yubin, the Grand Master of the knights! Too shocked to give a verbal answer, she nodded.

"It's okay. I'm not going to hurt you. You're new to the castle, right Gahyeon? Oh, how rude of me, I haven't even introduced myself. I am Lee Yubin, the Grand Master-" Yubin comforted the girl.

"I figured. And yes, I am new to the castle, G-Grand Master," Gahyeon was really nervous. She never imagined her first trip to the castle to be like this. She's... handsome... that deep voice of hers... Lee Gahyeon! What are you thinking? You are Handong's maid! Snap out of it! the starstruck girl thought.

"Well! This must have been a rough day for you. We need to take this bounty hunter to the court, to get some information out of her. Please, do follow me. It's not safe out here," Yubin took Gahyeon's hand, and they passed over the assassin's sleeping body to the guards.

"W-Where is... Lady Handong..." Gahyeon asked Yubin.

"I'm sure she's safe. The guards said that everyone managed to get out of the castle, except for you, of course."

Gahyeon sighed in relief that her master and friend was safe. "Y-You saved me, how must I repay you, Grand Master..."

"No need to pay me. I saved your life! Nobody should pay for that! Well, maybe this bounty hunter should. Let's get you to Lady Handong."

The next day, 5 PM

Bora was very upset. The assassin's trial didn't go well, since she refused to give out any information about who she was or who sent her. Bora knew that some powerful Neverlander, perhaps even an old leader, was behind it, but she just needed to know who. The Royal Court could only send her to their most guarded dungeon cell and wait until she finally confesses after being tortured in that cold, icy cell.

Worst of all, nobody from outside dared to step into the castle. Every citizen in Insomnia Kingdom heard of the news, and there was chaos and panic everywhere you looked. Bora tried to reinforce security by hiring more knights and interrogating every single person in the castle. She did find three more bounty hunters with the initials "DY", "HF", and "JM". Like the bounty hunter who was found last night, the other three refused to give any pieces of information, so they were also sent to the torture dungeon cells.
