Chapter 11 (TW)

Bora was very stressed. Siyeon was away from the protection of her castle, fighting against Yuqi. Bora reinforced laws and forces outside the castle. After hearing about Handong's incident, she literally flipped the table in front of her throne and ran to the hospital. This week was terrible.

She made the remaining knights in the castle search every single civilian's residence. Seungyeon was also there to help identify imposters, since she used to work under Yuqi and knew much more than what Mijoo did. The ones who were found guilty were sent to the dungeons, and the ones who were innocent but had a friend taken away from them were given large sums of money.

She was sitting in her throne room, anticipating news from messengers. She wanted to know about Handong's condition and how the war was going. She needed to know if her beloved Siyeon was okay. The sad truth is that she was not.

The guards finally announced the presence of a messenger. Bora let him in and deliver the letter sent by Knight Commander Yongsun, the leader of the Knight Commanders.

""To Her Majesty, Kim Bora.

The war is doing very, very well. We have defeated more than half of Song Yuqi's men and have a chance of catching her today," the messenger began.

Yay! When we capture Yuqi, Siyeon will have less weight to carry on her shoulders! Bora thought. She allowed the messenger to carry on with the letter.

""However, something very unfortunate happened in the battlefield. We are very sorry to inform you that Knight Major Lee Siyeon has been severely injured after being stabbed with a sword through the back. She was about to capture Song Yuqi successfully, but was too focused and got attacked in the process. She managed to kill her attacker after that, but then collapsed. Siyeon is currently on the way to the castle hospital.

Wishing to come back with victory,

Knight Commander Yongsun.""

Bora screamed. She screamed so loud that Yubin could probably hear her. "No... not my Singnie..." Tears ran down her face. She not only flipped the table in front of her, but threw it at the wall, breaking a cup of tea in the process. Guards immediately ran into the throne room, asking if the messenger was doing something wrong.

"You are all dismissed!" Bora ran to her sleeping quarters, crying hysterically. Just two days after they had revealed their true feelings to each other, it had to end this way, didn't it? Why? Why did she have to suffer so much? First, she lost her parents, and now, her lover? Was her life supposed to be this sad?

"Impossible... no, that's impossible..." Bora muttered. She jumped into her giant bed, went under the covers, and cried her heart out. Minji, alarmed by the outburst, ran into Bora's room.

"Bora! Oh my goodness, what happened?"

Bora's only response was a loud cry and a pillow being thrown. Minji ran to the messenger and asked him about the news. When she finally knew what happened, she shed a tear and ran back to console Bora.

"Oh, Bora. It's going to be okay."

"No, it's not! Minji, Singnie is severely injured! What if she's crippled for life now? What if she can never pick up a sword and become what she's always wanted to be, a Knight Commander? What if she dies?!?" Bora kicked the sheets at the thoughts.

"You need to have some hope, Bora. Siyeon is strong. She can get through this. She has to."

Bora signaled for Minji to go away. She was left alone and eventually cried herself to sleep.

Several hours later, around 7 PM

Bora refused to eat dinner or drink any water, just like when Siyeon was separated from her when they were kids. She waited in the castle hospital, waiting for Siyeon to arrive. She had been waiting ever since she woke up from her nap, which was at 5 PM. Her eyes were still red from all the crying. Minji was there, too, knowing that Yoohyeon would probably be the one bringing back the body, since she was Siyeon's roommate and was a very trusted friend.

Bora was about to get up and visit Handong's room when knights burst into the hospital, carrying a body. Siyeon's body! Bora jumped up and took Siyeon into her arms.

"Singnie! Wake up, please! Wake up!" she shook Siyeon uncontrollably, tears flowing out of her eyes again. Blood was still visible in an area near her liver. When Siyeon didn't respond, she screamed and cried even louder.

"She is unconscious, Your Majesty. We need immediate care for Major Siyeon. We are sorry." a knight brushed Bora away to transport Siyeon into a private room.

Minji, on the other hand, was looking for someone special. The knights who brought Siyeon to the hospital were also all free to leave the war and work in the castle again, to Minji's relief. Her Yoohyeon was never going to go back to the bloody battlegrounds. But where was she?

She saw a glimpse of bloodstained Knight Major armor. It was Yoohyeon! She had a few cuts, but they were all bandaged and weren't serious.

"Yoohyeon!" Minji called out. Yoohyeon turned around and saw Minji. Before she could even reply, Minji wrapped Yoohyeon in a tight hug.

"Thank goodness you're alright... but Siyeon..." Minji was crying tears of both happiness and sadness. Yoohyeon hugged her in response.

"Don't worry, Minji. Now that I'm already here, I probably won't be going back to the war. I'm alright, Minji. I told you that I would be fine! I might even get promoted when we win! We could hold a party to celebrate! You won't need to worry-"

Yoohyeon was interrupted by Minji placing a finger on her mouth. "How are you so bright and positive after all that has happened? Teach me!" Minji cried while laughing.

"Hey. You know what I say. Someday, if you feel lonely, just keep your head up to the sky, and remember that we're under the same sky." Yoohyeon replied. She was about to make another joke when Minji locked eyes with her and kissed her.

"M-Minji-" Yoohyeon began.

"Yoohyeon, you scared me so much. I don't want to lose you ever again." Minji pulled away. "I-I'm sorry." She realized that Yoohyeon might not have the same feelings, and hung her head, thinking that she had just ruined their relationship.

Minji began to walk away, but Yoohyeon grabbed her, spun her around, and kissed her back. Minji melted into Yoohyeon's arms, and the two shared a sweet and long kiss. People in the hospital, including Bora, were all cheering for the new and happy couple.

"Don't worry, Minji. I won't go for a very long time. I'll be here."
