The next day, 1 PM
The news about Yubin and Gahyeon had spread around fast. Yubin and Gahyeon didn't mind if their relationship was public, and Yubin even published an article about it in her castle newsletter. The knights had mixed reactions.
"Didn't you hear? Grand Master is dating Handong's old maid Lee Gahyeon!"
"I'm so happy for them!"
"You gotta admit, they look kinda cute!"
"I never imagined that a mere maid would be liked by our stone cold Grand Master!"
"Pfft! That scullery maid isn't good enough for someone like Grand Master!"
"I wasn't that surprised when Commander Siyeon was revealed to be dating Queen Bora, but this?!?"
"Grand Master's dating a disgusting maid?!??"
"Gahyeon isn't a maid anymore, guys, she's Grand Master's assistant... we have to call her Assistant Gahyeon from now on."
Gossip was everywhere in the dorms, training arenas, stables, etc. The Knight Commanders and Majors tried to stop them, but they didn't have much of an impact on the more arrogant, younger knights. Only the Grand Master was powerful enough to stop those rookies.
Yoohyeon and Mijoo decided to tell Yubin, since the gossiping had spread to them. When they walked to Yubin's office, they could already hear Gahyeon's giggles. Mijoo knocked on the door, and the laughter died down.
"You may come in." Yubin's voice was heard. Mijoo opened the door and stepped in with Yoohyeon. Yubin was proofreading her newsletter and Gahyeon was filing documents.
"Commanders Mijoo and Yoohyeon, what brings you here today?" Yubin asked.
"Grand Master, we have a series of gossiping among the knights about you and Gahyeon's relationship." Mijoo told her.
"We tried to put a stop to it, but the knights won't listen." Yoohyeon added.
Upon hearing that, Gahyeon's smile drooped into a frown. Yubin saw that and let Gahyeon sit on her lap.
"It's okay, Gahyeonie. I don't care what the knights, or anybody, say about us." Yubin told her lover.
"Me too, but this could make the knights start to disrespect you." Gahyeon replied.
"I better go take care of it, then!" Yubin stood up, put on her special Grand Master armor, and took Gahyeon's hand in hers. Together, the four walked to the lunch tables, where the majority of the gossiping occurred. Yubin and Gahyeon hid behind a bush, watching Mijoo and Yoohyeon.
"I've never seen that Lee Gahyeon, but she's probably ugly. Maids aren't supposed to have relationships with people like Grand Master." a knight told her other friend.
"Naeun!! You're right!! Wasn't she Lady Handong's maid, though? People are saying she showed up to Queen Bora's banquet!"
"Who cares if she was the maid of Lady Handong?!? She's a MAID, Somin!" Naeun smacked her friend's forehead. "She doesn't deserve to be Grand Master's! She's probably just a slut who wants attention!"
"True!" Somin replied. "Her and her dirty maid clothes aren't worthy enough to be in this castle!"
Yoohyeon and Mijoo walked up to Naeun and Somin's table. "What were you saying about Assistant Gahyeon, knights?" Mijoo said with a stern expression.
"Lee Gahyeon is a slut who shouldn't be Grand Master's girlfriend!" Naeun shamelessly told her. Somin agreed, nodding.
"Wow. You guys are so shameless, huh?" Yoohyeon flicked both of their ears.
"That's right. We are knights. It is our duty to make sure that the castle is safe from filthy girls with bad motives like her." Somin replied.
"She's probably just a bitch who is seducing Grand Master!" Naeun proudly said.
Behind the bush, Yubin wanted to go out and beat up the two, but Gahyeon gestured for her to not. She had an idea. Gahyeon was glad that the knights didn't know her face and that she wore elegant clothing every day, since Yubin liked to boost up her confidence. "Stay here until I tell you to come." Gahyeon whispered to Yubin. She came out of the bush. All of the knights turned around to look at her, gasping.
"I heard someone was talking about me." Gahyeon casually walked over to Mijoo and Yoohyeon.
"Assistant Gahyeon! We are very sorry that you had to hear-" Mijoo began.
"No need to be sorry. In fact," Gahyeon looked at Naeun and Somin with a smile on her face. "Say it to my face. See if I'm affected or not."
Instantly, degrading words and phrases were slammed at Gahyeon's face by the two rookie knights. Gahyeon only snickered, not giving a single shit. She gained so much confidence because of Yubin. Eventually, she interrupted the two. "You two do have a lot of words to describe me, I see. I don't feel hurt or worsened at all. However, you did mention my relationship with Yubinie to be looked down upon. Tell you what, I don't care." Gahyeon patted Naeun and Somin's heads. As she turned around to walk back to the castle, she was hit by some rice porridge and eggs, staining her beautiful burgundy dress and dirtying the black ribbons in her hair.
That was the final straw for Gahyeon. She gestured for Yubin to come out and give the two a scare. Yubin, fully clothed in her Grand Master armor, helmet and everything, stepped out from behind the bush and walked over to Naeun and Somin. Upon seeing the Grand Master, Naeun and Somin immediately looked down and bowed on the floor.
"G-Grand Master!" Naeun stammered.
"W-What did you hear? How long were you-" Somin was sweating.
"Lee Naeun and Jeon Somin," Yubin sternly said. She slapped both of them in the faces. "You have gone too far."
"W-We are sorry!" the two knights said at the same time.
"You better respect me and my Gahyeonie. Say one more degrading thing about her, even if we are not here, and I will kick you out from the castle and remove your ranks. The Knight Commanders can tell me everything they see." Yubin warned the two.
"Yes, Grand Master!" Naeun and Somin desperately replied.
"You may get up. Run fifty laps around the running course right now, and tell Commander Yoohyeon when you are finished." Yubin carried Gahyeon, bridal style, causing the shippers among the knights to gasp. "Let's go get you washed up, Gahyeonie. Your beautiful dress is now ruined! Thank you, Mijoo and Yoohyeon, for telling me about this."
"No problem, Grand Master. Farewell." the two Knight Commanders replied. Yubin then walked inside the castle, carrying Gahyeon in her arms lovingly, followed by cheering from the supportive knights.
