Chapter 25 (TW)

honestly all my trigger warnings are about blood so I shouldn't even bother to write a reason anymore but wow theres some suicide in here too-

Siyeon turned around to see that it was Binnie who asked her name. Oh no... she thought. She tried her best to look calm and friendly.

"Yup, that's me! You're Binnie, if I am right?" Siyeon responded. Binnie gave a fake smile.

"Yeah! It's nice to meet you, who will probably be the future queen alongside Queen Bora!" Binnie chuckled. Before I make Miracle Kingdom the empire I've always wanted it to be! she thought after that.

"Well, we'll see how it works out. Bora and I are just girlfriends right now, so..." Siyeon wondered about what would happen if she was also the queen. How would they have children to continue the royal bloodline? Would she stay with the knights? Who would be her bridesmaids?

"Don't be so hung up on the future! Here, have some!" Binnie handed Siyeon a glass of wine that she poured herself. It had some drugs in it. Luckily, Siyeon didn't trust Binnie and declined.

"Sorry, tomorrow I have a practice duel with Mijoo. I can't drink." Siyeon made up a lie.

"Oh." Binnie's smile faded. Damn it! she thought.

"Why don't you drink it? You've been drinking with Seunghee and Jiho the entire time, and you're looking pretty sober compared to them." Siyeon noticed that Jiho was stumbling to the restroom carrying a bottle in her hand and Seunghee was crying her heart out and mumbling gibberish. Those two are definitely drunk, she thought.

"I guess I have a higher tolerance. I'm not in the mood to get drunk either," Binnie replied.

The next morning, 8 AM

Bora had just finished eating breakfast and was sitting in her throne room, reading Yubin's latest newsletter. Hyojung and her advisors weren't awake yet and Minji got so drunk last night that she was still in a deep sleep, so Bora was left alone. Her peace was disturbed, however, when guards burst into the room to deliver some scary news.

"Guards? Why didn't you come in without knocking?"

"It's an emergency, Your Majesty."

An emergency? Now? But what? Bora thought.

"Advisor Seunghee was found in a royal garden. She had plunged a knife into her heart, taking her own life."

Oh my gosh! But why? She looked very happy before she got drunk. Why the hell would she commit suicide? Hyojung's gonna kill me... Bora panicked. "Take me to where she died. Now! Get Yubin and Siyeon to come with me!"

Bora reached the royal garden. Seunghee's corpse was very visible on the grass. Yubin and Siyeon arrived almost immediately to see the sight.

"Oh my gosh! What happened?!? Did she kill herself?!?" Yubin exclaimed. She knelt down to examine Seunghee's body. Siyeon searched the area for other clues, if there were any.

Yubin noticed that the stab wound looked like it was from a few hours ago, possibly near midnight. She also noticed that Seunghee killed herself hurriedly, since there was less precision when she stabbed herself. She didn't hesitate, so she was probably very drunk when she did so. But even that much amount of alcohol couldn't seem to make Seunghee, the "happiest advisor of the bunch" (according to Hyojung), kill herself! Something seemed off. Yubin just didn't know what was the real cause.

Siyeon, however, had an idea. Boy, I am so glad that I refused to drink whatever Binnie gave me! she thought. She found a letter hidden behind a bush with Seunghee's drunken handwriting on it. It was certainly Seunghee's, since Siyeon had seen her sign a document with the other advisors to give to Bora. This time, the letter was written with a pencil and it was stained with many tears.

To my queen Hyojung,

I have always thought of you differently from the others. Yes, you are queen and all, but I meant to say that I have liked you. I have liked you in a way that is more than a friend. It's too bad that you probably don't feel the same. All these years I have loved you knowing that you didn't love me back. It was really painful. Now that we have gone to Insomnia Kingdom, I have missed home so, so much. I wanted to write in my diary about how happy you looked with Bora. I wanted to write my heart out. I forgot to pack it, unfortunately. I just don't want to live with all this pain anymore. Luckily,

Advisor Seunghee

The last sentence wasn't finished. Siyeon couldn't believe her eyes. Seunghee was jealous of Bora and had lived most of her life loving someone she knew wouldn't love her back. Hyojung was just friends with Bora, but apparently Seunghee thought otherwise. Siyeon felt terribly sorry for the advisor who had spent most of her life in pain.

The sun shined on the letter, and a "B" suddenly showed up after the last comma. Huh? What's this? Siyeon noticed. More letters started to form as she moved the letter towards the sunlight more.

Luckily, Binnie has a solution. Isn't she so sweet? You're lucky that she's your assistant. She knew how I was feeling and gave me a knife. She asked me about how I felt towards you and made it very clear that you would never love me at all. She was right- my life is worthless, so I shouldn't have to live anymore. She's letting me write my last words to you, since she promised me that she would take this to you in the morning. After I finish writing this, I will accept my fate and leave. I won't have to hold this pain anymore. I hope that I can watch you live the rest of your life happily. (Sorry if this letter seemed terribly written, my stomach feels a little funny after drinking.)

Siyeon gasped. Binnie was behind it all. She had indeed put something in their drinks. She promised Seunghee that she would take the letter to Hyojung, but instead she crumpled it up and tried to hide it behind a bush. Binnie also persuaded Seunghee to kill herself after making her feel terrible. She had tried to destroy the evidence by erasing that last part.

Siyeon hid the letter in her pocket, stood up, and was about to go back to Seunghee's body when she thought of something alarming.

But Seunghee wasn't the only one drunk that night near Binnie- oh, no- JIHO!
