"Sweetie wake up." I heard dad whisper.

My heart instantly warmed, I missed his musical voice. It always made me feel safe...but that was then. Propping up in my bed, I glared at dad, who was by the bed coaxing me to wake up.

"What do you want?" I grumbled, my voice still thick with sleep.

"You've got school today sweetie." I glanced around the pink infested room and groaned.

I forgot...I'm not in Miami anymore.

"Get dressed, Reese and Nate are leaving in thirty minutes." He said before strolling out in his fine pressed suit.

"Who's Nate!" I called out confused as to who that guy was. I'm not leaving with anyone...especially not a stranger.

When no one answered me, I dragged myself out of bed. I still hadn't unpacked and my clothes were still tightly packed into my bags.

Keep it simple, I reminded myself, don't try to make a statement and blend.

I was beyond nervous because I had never moved. I've only ever known Florida and only knew the people I grew up with. The friends I made at home had been my friends since pre-school. I never had to worry about making a good impression.

But now I do.

After a quick shower, I pulled on a white t-shirt and a black hoodie, then slipped on a pair of dark denim skinny jeans and my chucks. I brushed my blonde hair so that it was tamed and not slapping me in the face. I chose to go minimal on the makeup since I prayed no one would pay me any attention.

I was in the middle of putting on a little mascara to accentuate my blue eyes, when my door swung open. "HURRY UP!" Reese yelled.

Wrong move.

I stabbed my eye with the evil contraption and screamed. Now that's embarrassing enough, but leave it to me to make it even worse. When I jumped up, my head hit the damn shelf Tara had hung and it crashed to the ground.

I think I stepped on one of the little trinkets and fell face first. On my way down I flailed my arms and brought down my curtain, which had my fairy lights. Then somehow my bed sheets were swiped off my bed.

The end result was disastrous....and Reese caught it on his phone.

"This is viral gold!" He cried out

"REESE!" I screeched, scrambling off the ground to kill him. "I'll kill you!"

See told you.

Reese ran his former fat ass down the stairs like a pro. I, on the other hand, stumbled a bit, and fell straight forward on the last step. I instantly braced myself for the impact but nothing happened.

Instead a pair of warm arms wrapped around my waist before I hit the floor. I finally opened my eyes and found a strange brown-eyed boy staring down on me. A smirk firmly intact on his flawless features that read 'perfection'.

Until he opened his mouth, "Reese you said she was ugly."

I quickly pushed myself off of him an scrambled to my feet. "She is!" Reese's voice echoed through the house.

My eyes darted left and right in search of my former pudgy-gutted stepbrother. I turned to the strange dark haired boy and raised my eyebrow in question. He shrugged and gave me a wicked smile.

"Don't look at me like that doll face, I don't know where he is." He snorted plopping down on the couch and propping his feet up.

Choosing to ignore him, I went into the kitchen to clean my eye up. Glancing at a reflection of myself through the window, I found mascara coating my eye. I practically looked like a raccoon...except blonde of course.
