Matey's POV
It was a good morning. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and Ezra was snoring loudly from under my bed. Usually the snoring bit, would have me in a cranky mood. But today, I felt nothing could bring me down.
I got up and pulled on Ezra's legs and pulled him out. Ezra however, didn't bat an eye. I had come to learn that he was a deep sleeper. Nothing really woke him up. You know, except maybe a few love taps to the face. But I was too cheery to abuse him this early in the morning.
I nudged him with my foot instead, until he woke up. He cracked one eye open, glared at me, then tossed over in his sleeping bag and covered himself.
"You can't make me!" he grumbled, shifting his body so that he lying on his stomach.
"We still have school to go to, and my dad can't know that you crashed here." I warned him, tugging on sleeping bag.
Ezra had decided to get wasted the night before, and climbed into my room in the middle of the night. It wasn't a big deal, he'd slept under my bed before. Especially when his parents fought and he needed time away from home. Dad and Tara didn't know Ezra was my occasional roommate, but Reese did.
In fact, Reese only let him sleep in my room because Ezra was an obnoxious snorer. So he crashes under my bed from time to time. Last night was no exception.
"Alright you nutcracker." He mumbled groggily. Ezra sat up and pulled his sleeping bag up to his chest. "Alright sugar, I know you ogle me when no one's looking, but the goods are for your mother only, young lady. So turn around so I can get dressed." He demanded, twirling his finger so i'd turn.
I grimaced and turned around. "For the record, you have no goods."
From behind me, Ezra scoffed, seemingly offended. "I'm freaking hot!"
"Hot-headed, yes I agree." I nodded.
Before either of us could retort, Reese burst into my room. His eyes looked wide and panicked. "Gary is coming, quick hide him!" Reese hissed, shoving Ezra into my closet. I quickly grabbed his sleeping bag and discarded it under my bed. Reese closed the closet door, just as my dad knocked on my bedroom door.
"Can we talk?" Dad asked through the door.
"Uh..."I trailed off, glancing at Reese who pushed me towards the door. "Y-yeah?" I answered.
There was a pause, then dad spoke again. "Can we talk face-to-face?" he asked, when I didn't open the door. I yanked the door open and found dad frowning in confusion.
"Hey daddy, what's up?" I chuckled nervously, as I thought about the shirtless Australian exchange student hiding in my closet without my father's knowledge.
Dad glanced behind me, and I knew I was grounded for life. I sighed and braced myself for the big blow up. Instead my dad furrowed his brows. "Did you come to wake up your sister?" He asked. I turned and caught my breath. I had forgotten about Reese.
"Y-yeah." He smiled, scratching the back of his head. "She nearly poked my eye out when I tried to. But we still have school, so yeah." He chuckled, crossing the room to leave.
"Idiot." I grumbled, jabbing him in the ribs, so that dad wouldn't suspect anything. Reese cooed, and ruffled my hair in passing.
"See you for breakfast, now hurry up because we don't want to be late!" He called over his shoulder, as he disappeared.
Dad smiled, in content. "I'm glad you're getting along with Reese. When you first moved in, I didn't expect you to ever be civil with him, or any of us for that matter." He admitted.
