"You're Reese's little sister right?" A guy with shaggy brown hair asked, stopping in the hall as I walked to lunch.
It was my second day of school and I had managed to survive it-thus far. My first day started off...entertaining, to say the least. But after football practice everything seemed to had gone alright.
I mean I didn't see Big Red again. That kiss was practically non-existent as it seems she was too ashamed to say anything. Every tome I did see Big Red around school, she would glare at me and storm off in the opposite direction. I just don't get it, why did she think kissing another girl was such a bad thing? They're just a pair of lips and if anything I was a great kisser!
I'm a little offended. That however doesn't mean I swing for the same team. I like guys, but i'm comfortable enough with myself to explore - I know what I like. And even though it's not girls, I'm not going to freak out at the act of girl with girl - or even guy with guy.
Homosexuality wasn't an issue in my Miami life. It was a norm really. No one balked at the mention of it. But this is a small town, and I guess they haven't gotten the memo that gay is okay. Small town could mean small minded people....but I really shouldn't judge a whole town now should I?
Well there's a lot of things I'm going to have to endure while I'm here. Being around small town, like-minded people, and those people associating me with fatso.
"No." I answered coolly, "I'm Matey Greer." I extended my hand daring him to take it. And like a fish to a fisherman, he took the bait.
"Hans Durkwell." He smiled.
"That's....uh a lovely name." I muttered feeling really bad for the guy. He was pretty good looking - not Nate good looking - but he would suffice. It was his name that totally drove me away. God, who would gave birth to that kid and was like, "You know what? Our child should have an awful name so that he never becomes too full of himself."
Tragic.
"Don't laugh." He said, I didn't even realize I was laughing, "I was named after my dad after he died in a car accident before I was born."
I choked and stopped laughing. Oh god I just made fun of a cute guy for having his dead father's name! Could I be even more heartless?
"I-m so sorry Hans. I didn't mean to, it's just you're a really cute guy and you have a really odd...no I didn't mean that. It's just that it's a really strange...no that doesn't sound right either. What I mean is that I -" I rambled when Hans put his hand up to stop me.
"I'm kidding." He chuckled. "I was named after my grandma's young aerobics instructor aka my gramps."
"You what!" I roared, "I actually felt bad for you! My mom died, that's why I had to move into my dad's place!" I cried pretending to sob into my hands.
Now it's your turn to apologize pretty boy, I thought triumphantly.
"I-I Oh my god. I didn't mean to Matey, I didn't know. I just thought that since you made fun of my name I'd get you back. And-"
"You're such a sucker." I laughed in his face cutting him off. Hans blushed and glared at me.
"Not funny." He deadpanned before he cracked a grin, "I like your sense of humor."
"Why thank you. I like your unwavering wit."
"I try my best." He bowed, "So you're not Reese's little sister?" He asked.
I frowned, Is he who i'm going to be affiliated with now? Will I ever only be known as Reese's little sister, because I'm not!
"I'm his step sister." I shrugged stressing the word 'step', "what's it to you?"
