"Okay great practice ladies!" Lacey the team captain announced.
I was catching my breath from the vigorous practice. My troupe in Miami was good, but this team was amazing! Most of the girls were trained since diapers.
I was totally intimidated...and exhausted. My arms and legs felt like spaghetti.
"Princess come here, I need to talk to you." Lacey called me when everyone was leaving the studio.
I dragged myself over, my legs threatening to snap under me. "Yeah?" I asked not even bothered she'd chose to call me princess instead of my name.
"I need your help with something." she said slinging her bag on her shoulder and walking out with me tailing her.
"Um sure, if I can help." I shrugged.
"My little sister Laurel, she's a junior like you." she said.
"Yeah and so?"
"I'm only going to tell you this once, so don't get cocky or anything...." she warned me, "You're a great dancer, you don't need much practice."
"Aww thanks Lace-"
"Don't call me that, i'm Lacey to you! I said that because it's true, but I don't need you to inflate your ego." she snapped.
"Okay-okay."I said raising my hands in defeat.
"Laurel just joined the dance team after begging her for two years. I'm a senior and I need Laurel to step up and take the captains spot next year. There hasn't been a dancer in my family who hasn't been a dance captain...ever." She stressed earnestly.
"Whoa intense." I muttered under my breath.
"Of course it's intense! This is my family's legacy i'm talking about! Laurel isn't the greatest dancer and I would help her but i'm busy with trying to graduate and getting the team to state." she explained, "I want you to help her. She needs to be ready not only for competition but to be captain next year."
"And what do I get out of this?" I asked when a car horn, honked behind me. I glanced over my shoulder and saw Hans, Reese, and Nate waiting for me.
"A solo at our first competition." she promised.
"W-wait are you crazy! You can't give me a solo, i'm a newbie. You have to be desperate if you're willing to give me a solo." I said shocked.
I danced with my team in Miami since I was a kid and they never once gave me a solo.
"I've seen you dance Princess. I can trust you're up to par. I'll text you with all the details you need." she said hurriedly as she climbed into her car.
"Wait I didn't even say-"
"Kay bye I'll text you!" she yelled slamming her door shut and driving away.
"I didn't even say yes." I sighed tiredly as I walked over and climbed into the car.
"How was your practice? You've been dancing a week now and you never say anything about it." Reese said as he drove us to our house.
"Lacey just offered me a solo at our first competition if I train her little sister Laurel." I yawned resting my head on the window.
"Laurel? Who's Laurel?" Hans asked confused, his voice becoming faint and more distant. I think I nodded, then everything became black.

"Don't try anything funny while we're gone!" I heard Reese snap.I lulled my head to the side and hit something with my head. I groaned but didn't move.
