Nate's P.O.V

I saw her across the school parking lot. She didn't see me, because she was scrolling through her phone as she waited for Reese. Next to her, Ezra was talking to her, but she looked like she was only paying half attention.

I remembered it hurting-- looking at her with anyone else hurt. When I first met her, I thought she was just another challenge. Someone to help me pass the time with. However, she proved me wrong.

"Stop staring at her." Sadie said, suddenly by my side. "Let's get out of here." she purred, brushing her lips against my ear. I closed my eyes and pushed her away, tired of having so many obstacles in my way.

"Don't." I grounded out, "Just stop touching me, stop talking to me, I can't stand you!" I snapped letting out all my anger at her. Was it wrong? Yes. But she was part of the problems I had buried myself under.

"What are you trying to say?" she pouted, stomping her foot like an immature brat. Something I was sure her parents raised her to be.

"I'm breaking up with you." I said slowly so she could comprehend.

Sadie's eye's widened in shock and her jaw dropped. I don't see why it was so shocking, we both knew it was coming. The real shock, was why we had let it go on for this long? We both knew we only agreed to date offhanded because wanted to piss off Matey and I was more than willing to get her jealous too, out of my own selfishness.

We never cared for each other. We cheated on each other every opportunity we had. But I had Matey in my life again and I was determined to keep her there. Sadie, I could do without, but Matey wasn't so easy to let go of.

"You are not breaking up with me!" she snapped, "Only I can break up with you....s-so it's over. Like right now, so go weep and think about how stupid you are!"

"You're right. I will go think about how stupid I was....for staying with you as long as I did! I should get a friggin award for withstanding you for that long, you psycho!" I snapped angrily. Sadie gasped then brought her hand back and slapped me across my face. It would have hurt more, if I wasn't so damn elated that she was officially out of my hair.

"Nate Archer, you will regret this!"

"How cliché of you to say." I deadpanned, turning away from her.

Sadie huffed and the sounds of her high heels disappeared. I looked towards the other side of the parking lot and my eyes zeroed in on Matey. She and Ezra were both staring me curiously.

I spared them a small wave and a smile. Matey furrowed her brows, in a way of asking what was going on. I shrugged, then turned away to leave. I had someone I had to get ready to see.

Like I said, Sadie was only part of the problem. But she wasn't the biggest challenge I had to overcome. There was still one more, and as of last night that problem had only gotten worse.

"You're leaving now?" Reese frowned, sitting up.

After football practice Reese and I had came to my place. Usually his house was our hangout after football. But as of late, my house seemed less stressful. Go figure huh?

"Not now, I was just going later on tonight. My dads already said they were cool with it, they know this part isn't very negotiable." I shrugged, tossing Reese a bag of chips. He wasted no time in ripping them open and stuffing his face like a chipmunk.

"Yoo-lewk-lyke-sheet." he mumbled through a mouth full of food. I narrowed my eyes at him and reclined in my seat.

"Fuck you, i'm beautiful." I retorted. Reese chuckled and cleared his throat.
