"Shoot, I'm out of kisses." I grumbled. From beside me Nate straightened up.
"Looks like your shift is done then." He stretched his arms out, and then placed on arm around my waist. "You wanna go to Bermuda burgers?"
"NO!" Pj and I cried out together. Reese and Nate looked at us like we were crazy, but we just chuckled and waved them off.
"Let's go somewhere else." I suggested with a convincing smile.
"We could go the coffee shop over in the next town. They have the best hot coco, and it's pretty cheap." Reese suggested. Before anyone of us could say more, his phone went off. Reese grabbed his phone and read a message, then his face twisted in horror. "Who the hell is Brandon, and why does he think my name is Sadie?"
"No idea?"
"Wow, weird."
Reese's eyes darted between Pj and I suspiciously. I was sure he would connect the dots, and find out I had given to random boys his number. I did it in the name of boredom, I didn't actually think they would call. Thankfully, before Reese could figure it was me who had advertised his number, Nate swooped in and saved us. "Looks like you've found your prince in shining armor." He teased Reese.
Reese glared at Nate and scoffed dramatically. "Get real Nate, we all know that i'm holding out for you."
Nate's face drained, "Aw man, no-" He began to stammer when Reese began to laugh loudly.
"Dude you should have seen your face!" Reese snorted, with tears in his eyes. Before long Pj and I joined him. Nate punched Reese in the arm and smiled in satisfaction when Reese cried out in pain.
"Let's go get some hot coco." Nate said to me, holding out his hand for me to take. I chuckled and placed my hand in his. Pj and Reese followed behind us, with Pj acting as a nurse for Reese.
"I was kidding." Reese huffed, "Everybody knows that Nate isn't good enough for me!"
"I know." Pj cooed, playing along.
From beside me Nate snorted, and rolled his eyes. "I'm the prettier one right?" He asked me, and for a split second I was sure he was joking. Then to my surprise, I realized he was being sincere.
"Yeah." I drawled out, unconvincingly. "Sure, compare my boy toy to my brother, that's fair." I added sarcastically.
"I'll take that as a resounding, 'hell yes.'" he smirked proudly.

The coffee house was cozy and quiet. It reminded me of central perks, from 'Friends' and it had the soft indie music playing in the background. A group of students were huddled by the fireplace studying together. A couple of girls sat nearbye giggling and sneaking glances at Nate and Reese. Then there were the handful of people here alone, enjoying the warmth of their coffees and hot coco's.
Nate leaned over to whisper in my ear, "Let's go get a table. Something tells me Pj wants to be alone with Reese."
"Why do you say that?" I asked. Nate gestured to Pj who was waving at us from behind Reese, telling us to go away. I turned back to Nate and shrugged, "I don't know, that could mean anything."
Nate chuckled and lead me away from Pj. I was almost certain she was going to ask Reese out. I was a little proud of myself. I hadn't meddled in their business and they were well on their way to dating. I have to say, this was some major character development for me.
Good job Matey, you deserve a gold star!
"I think Reese really likes her." Nate said as we sat down at a booth in the back of the café. I glanced towards Pj and Reese. They were in line to order, and they were smiling and laughing with each other. Reese looked at ease with her, like she wasn't just a girl he liked for the sake of looks. But a girl he genuinely enjoyed being around.
