"Dude stop with the flirty eyes." I teased Hans. He has been blatantly drooling over Big Red for the past ten minutes.
"I don't have flirty eyes!" he scoffed taking a big swig from his beer.
"On no of course not." I rolled my eyes, my words dripping with sarcasm.
"Cupcake i'm serious." he whined.
"Hans do you think Big Red looks cute tonight?" I asked and before he could retort I quickly added, "And please be honest, not for me but for yourself."
Hans hesitated, running his hands down his face. I know it's a long shot, but I saw sparks between those two. I'm not opposed to having them together, they kinda look cute together.
"Yeah she's cute...but is it pathetic that I feel guilty." he asked sincerely hurt.
"Why would you feel guilty?"
His body grew rigid as he nodded towards a group of girls. I frowned, but they looked like a bunch of barbie bitches. Then it clicked, right in center was our former friend turned foe.
Oh, now I get it.
"Pj." I mumbled turning to him, "Is it hard? Loving her, is it hard being in love with someone who's not who you think they are?"
Hans sighed and hugged me unexpectedly. I hugged him back anyway, because I knew he needed it. That and because i'm pretty sure he was buzzed already.
"If you learn anything cupcake, let it be this," He mumbled releasing me and smiled wistfully, "We can't decide who we love."
He's a wise drunk.
"Come on let's go get another beer." I tell him encouragingly leading him away.
Maybe I shouldn't push Hans too hard. He was in love with Pj for years. It's only been a couple weeks since he's seen her for who she truly is.
Hans needed time and as his friend I'll respect that. As best as I could....probably.
"You have that look in your eyes again dollface. What are you planning?" Nate whispered in my ear when Hans wasn't looking. I glared at him, punching his gut....okay it was his toned stomach.
I wonder if he has abs? Matey likes abs.
"Nothing." I shrug adjusting my glasses.
"You're a terrible liar." he chucked swinging his arm around my shoulder. I tried to ignore the shiver but it was near impossible.
"Is it so bad that I want to help Hans? He's my closest friend, I just want him to be happy again." Nate stares at me with a calculating look. To be honest, it was severely uncomfortable. It was like he was absorbing my features.
After a pregnant pause, he cracked a smile. Not a smirk, and not his beautiful genuine smile. But a mischievous smile, like the ole hamster wheel is turning.
"Have you ever played never let go Jack?" Nate smirked.
"I don't like that look Archer." I mumbled backing away.
"Oh you like it." he nodded.
Nope, don't like it.

Fifteen minutes later and half of the party had gathered round to play Never let go Jack. It was a simple game.
You pick a partner and choose a limb. Then you and you're partner have to stay attached for as long as possible. Losers have to scream out, Never let go Jack! Then take a shot, but the catch is you can't choose a simple stance and if the last people standing last more than five minutes everyone has to take double shots....off their partners..
