~Boot Camp~
Connie and I sit at a table in the classroom, going over the different types of Titans. He throws his head back and yells in frustration as I try to quiz him.
"No Connie," I rub my temples. "The abnormals are the ones that jump around."
"Oh yeah," he laughs. "I forgot."
I close the book and look around. We're the only ones in here while everyone gets to relax for the rest of the day. Connie needs to pass the next exam if he wants to stay a trainee, so the two of us are stuck in here.
"Listen," I put my hands on the closed book. "You need to pass this test. I'll write up a pretest for you, so go ahead and have the rest of your day off. Go have fun."
"Really?" He beams at me. "You'd do that for me? Oh I love you Sophie!"
Connie kisses my forehead and I pull away with a disgusted look. I watch as he grabs his jacket and runs out of the building. Now I'm left inside by myself.
I take a piece of paper and a pencil, then I begin writing down questions. Thinking about what will be on the exam tomorrow.
How tall can a Titan be? (Not counting the colossal)
How do the Titans repopulate?
How does a Titan digest?
I finish the questions and set the my pencil down, then lay my head on the wood desk. My hair falls into my face and I sigh, blowing the pieces out.
"Yo Sophie," I hear someone enter the room. "We're going to play a game of capture the flag. Want to join? Connie mentioned you were in here and we want you on our team."
I look up at Jean, my chin resting on my arm that is laying on the desk. He turns his head sideways, looking at me through the doorway.
"Sure, I just finished the pretest for Connie. So good timing," I sit up from my chair.
"You did that for him?" Jean questions, surprise in his voice.
"Yeah... He's a good guy and I want to graduate with him. It's the least I could do... not like it was hard," I fold the paper and put it in my pocket.
Grabbing the book, I head towards the front of the classroom and put it back on the shelf. Jean holds the door open for me as we head out towards the forest.
"Okay, so it's not a flag we're trying to capture, it's actually a potato sack. It's all we could find," he laughs. "Our team is You, Connie, Marco, Thomas, Sasha, Mina, and me. We're going against Reece and his friends."
"Okay sounds easy enough," I kick a rock that was in my path.
"Our plan is for you and Connie to be the retrievers, while Sasha and I draw them away. The others will guard our flag. You and Connie are the fastest and have the best reflexes, that's why you're the best fit."
"Wow did you just give me a compliment?" I fake a gasp. Jean rolls his eyes at me and I smirk.
"Don't get used to it Princess," he looks at me from the side. "You're not all that special."
"Yeah yeah, I know you only find Mikasa special. What? My brown hair not pretty enough for you? You only like black hair?"
"Shut up," he grumbles. "It's not like that. Your hair is pretty too."
He looks away, not wanting to give me the compliment to my face. I punch his shoulder and laugh.
We arrive at the destination where we will be playing the game. I see our team goofing off by the potato sack. Luckily it's empty, because I wasn't about to go haul a heavy bag all the way back to our area.
