I wake up with Eld coming into my "room". He walks to my bed and unlocks the shackles on my arms, setting me.
"Looks like Eren hasn't been set free from Hange," he smirks.
"I'll go see if he's still alive," I laugh as my feet touch the cold cement floor. Eld leaves as I put on my uniform.
I slide my foot into the second boot and make my way to the main floor. When I get there, I see the morning light.
Sleeping down there isn't too fun. There's no windows and it's cold and damp. I can also hear mice and rats running around.
I shudder and close the door to the basement. When I turn around, I nearly miss colliding into a man who's panting as he runs. Looking disoriented.
"Where Hange?" He asks me frantically.
"Uh- I think she's in the dining hall still," I point down the hall. He takes off and I run after him since he looks very concerned.
He rips the door open as I stand behind him. I see Hange and Eren sitting right where I left them last night. Eren has large dark circles under his eyes and it seems he's utterly drained.
"Hange! Come quick!" He yells, panicking. "They're dead! Both of them killed!"
Quickly, Hange gets up. The three of us following after her. We get on our horses and ride to wherever they were keeping the Titans they caught.
Eren and I get off our horses last, while Hange doesn't even wait for hers to stop before she begins running to where two steaming carcasses lay in the ground.
We hesitantly approach them. Hange is screaming in agony. It's like someone close to her died or something.
"Sawney! Beane!" She yells. "How could this happen?!"
I look around at the other scouts observing the scene. Eren rubs his head and I turn to look at him with a confused expression.
"Did she name them?" I point and he shrugs his shoulders.
"Someone tell me this isn't real!?" Hange grabs onto her head and falls to her knees.
I glance over to Eld and Gunther who are talking quietly amongst themselves.
"They were such valuable specimens," Gunther frowns. "Is this a soldiers work?"
"Yeah," Eld response. "But they haven't pegged the one responsible yet. They were killed just before dawn, apparently. By the time the guards got here, the bastard cleared out on ODM gear."
"Whoever it was must've had a lookout to warn them about the guards," Gunther sighs.
"Sawney!!!" Hange cries out.
"Oh dear," Ouro speaks up. "Someone's gone stark raving mad, haven't they?"
Petra elbows him on the side and he grunts. That's when I hear someone walk up beside me. Eren and I are wearing our hoods up, blocking the stares of other soldiers, so I had to turn my head to see who arrived. It's Levi.
"How did this- How'd it happen?" Eren asks rhetorically.
"Let it go. This a matter for the Military Police," Levi looks at Eren.
"Yes sir," Eren sighs.
Next to Eren and I's faces, we feel a presence. Neither of us have to look because we know exactly who it is by the sound of their voice.
"What is it you think you guys see?"
I feel Erwins hand on my shoulder and I glance at him. He's staring straight ahead at the screaming Hange and dead Titans.
