Author note:

Thanks guys, I had to rewatch Marcos and Moblits death to write this chapter... I'm broken.

"We did it!"

"We took down the Armored Titan!"

"The Armored Titan bit the dust!"

The scout scream as Jean and the others land beside me on the roof once again. Their expressions even worse than when they left.

I look down at the slumped-over body of Reiner's Titans, seeing the faint view of his human form that used to sit inside the neck. Now it's exposed with steam surrounding him. I'm not sure if he's alive or dead.

"Ha...ha... we pulled it off," Jean stares down at Reiner with a forced smile. "You were a serious pain in the ass for us."

I sit down between Connie and Sasha, doing my best to tune out everyone's comments, even Jeans. But I know he's hurting... he's not hard to read at all.

Next to me on my left is Sasha who is crouched down and on my right is Connie who is holding each side of his head, obviously stunned. Both of them are crying.

"Serves you right! You scumbag!" Jean adds, probably to convince himself that Reiner was the enemy and that we did the right thing, but now isn't the time.

"Jean," I warn, trying to be sensitive of Connie and Sasha feelings.

He drops his gaze to us, seeing the two crying and my own mortified face. Did everyone else hear Reiners scream? Or was it just me?

I stand, getting closer to the edge of the roof, not wanting to look anywhere else but at Reiner. He had just saved my life and now I watched his get taken from him.

"What the hell are you crying for?" I hear Jean shout. "Stop! Get up! We still have work to do!"

I look behind me and see that he's grabbing our friends by the front of their cloaks. I want to step in, but this is just how he's grieving. It would be wrong for me to take that from him.

"Don't cry for him! He would've done the same thing to us!" Jean continues and from the look on Sasha and Connie's face, it's making them even more upset. Although I want him to get his anger out, I don't want it to be at the price of Sasha and Connie feelings.

I step towards him, laying my shaking hand in his shoulder. He loosens his grasp on our friends and lets his hands drop to his side, sitting down on his heels.

"Jean..." I mutter softly. "We know..."

"He was the enemy..." his voice gives out.

"I know," I pull his head into my stomach.

The moment is quiet, but that's all over when Hange begins giving orders again. I want to ignore her and just be in my own little world so I'm not reminded of what I've just witnessed, but that's now life works.

"This isn't over! We'll hit him with another volley to be sure," she shouts at all the Scouts.

I let go of Jean who seems to have gotten his sense back and then I glance back over to Reiner. I stare for a second, focusing on the steam.
