"Eren what was that?" I stand next to him, along side Mikasa and Armin. We are all staring up at the wall where a large cloud of smoke and steam is. A giant hand creeps over the edge.

My eyes widen as a Titans face appears over the top of it. "A Titan?"

Erens green eyes are fixated on the wall, as well as everyone else. I look from Mikasa to Armin. Both not moving.

I've never seen a Titan that large before. Well I've never seen a Titan in person at all, but the books and information we have only show a few kinds. None could ever come close to reaching the top of the wall, or even half of it.

My fight or flight is kicking in. I see all the other villagers processing the scene before us as well. I feel my fists tighten as I try to come up with a plan. Maybe Eren is thinking of something...

No he's still staring up at the wall.

Today was going so normally though...

* Earlier *

I caught up with my brother and Mikasa, they were talking with Hannes. Eren was arguing about how Hannes needs to be more serious about the wall security and stop goofing off.

"Eren, use your inside voice," Hannes mumbles.

"Listen, all they've done to the wall in the past hundred years is scratch at it. I'm sure if anything does happen, we'll be ready for it," Hannes friend walks up to us, grumbling idiotic words.

"My dad says we have to stay sharp," Eren argues.

"Good ol Dr.Jeager... can't argue with someone who single handedly saved us from the plague," Hannes sighs.

"It sounds to me that you don't even think they're all that dangerous," I speak up. My hand is on my hip and I'm staring up at the two men.

"Ehh," Hannes looks off towards the wall and shrugs.

Mikasa holds onto her sticks she collected and I watch as Eren begins to get angry. He's still arguing with Hannes.

"Wow you're right about that kid having fire, he's about to cry," the other guards laugh as they play a card game. "You coming back to play or what?"

"Yeah," Hannes replies and we all walk off.

The three of us begin to head home. We're all quiet most of the way. That's until Mikasa starts to speak to Eren.

"Eren, you have to let this scout regimen thing go," she says softly.

"Seriously? Everyone thinks they're a joke..." he frowns.

He gets cut off by bells ringing, alarming us that the Survey Corps is back. Eren becomes excited and beckons us to follow him to get a good look at them while I'd rather go home and sleep.

We stand on wood boxes and watch as they flood in from outside the walls. Almost all of them look injured in some way, or dead. Horses carry the bodies of the severely hurt, while those who can walk, follow along side.

"Sure have taken a hit didn't they," a stranger sighs.

"Yeah, the rest of them eaten. That's what happens when you get taken outside the wall," his friend answers.
