(NOT EDITED, I WAS TOO EXCITED TO POST)
Here is the last chapter
~"Our foe...is the world," one of the uniformed men sitting in the pews off to the side comments in fear.
"That information should stay in this room," another adds. "If it became public knowledge, there would be chaos."
"Yes, I concur. Regrettably, we can't let this get out till we fully grasped the situation."
"Shall we deceive the people once more?" Pyxis questions. "That's what you're suggesting, right? That we keep our citizens complacent and blind, as the late King did? If we do that, then by what ideals did we oppose King Reiss. What right did we have to seize his crown?"
I watch as everyone begins to talk about what this new information means. I'm not sure what to do, so I can't even imagine being in Historia's position. However, I'm surprised by her quick answer.
"Then let's release it," she states with authority. The entire room gasps, but no one dares go against her world. "It's only fair. This is information that the people once knew, before my predecessor stole it from them. As the people of the walls, all of us will share the same fate. Which is why we must now unite as one and work together."
And just like that... it was decided that the information would be released in newspapers, bulletin boards, and by public speakers. Open for everyone to know.
~Days later~
"Well, if it isn't the brave hero's of the walls," Hitch walks up to our group as we all get ready for the ceremony.
I finish buttoning Jeans shirt since apparently he had forgotten a few of them. He looks up at the approaching girl and I turn as well.
"Hitch. Surprised you came," Jean comments.
She sends a small wave. "I just wanted to watch you guys get your medals."
"I see," Jean frowns. "Marlo was... very brave, right to the end."
"I know," she looks down.
"It's the that right, Floch?" Jean sets his hand on the redheads shoulder since he was the one who was there. "You should tell her."
"Yeah, sure. I rode right beside Marlo. Just like me, he joined as an urgent recruit. But unlike me, he was a brave, and a natural leader."
"Damn right," I scoff quietly, only Jean being able to hear me. He elbow my shoulder and gives me a warning look. "You thought it too."
"Yeah, but shhh," he places his finger on my lips.
"Our situation was hopeless. It's seem to us that the scouts were on the verge of ruin. Just as our fear was giving way to panic and despair, he stepped in and inspired us to push on."
"Yeah?" Hitch smiles lightly.
"He was an amazing person," Flochs voice raises.
"I know. And that's why... Well, it's probably why he never listened to me," Hitch tenses up.
"But in the end, I'm sure he wished that he'd never volunteered," Floch adds.
Hitch let's out a gasp at his words, as do I. It wasn't okay for him to say that. Marlo was a free spirit and all he ever wanted to do was help those in need. I'm sure he never regretted it for a second.
