Love at First Smile

CHAPTER 30

(Yannha's POV) 

Nasa simbahan na kami, I'm still confused on what he said in the elevator. I tried asking him kanina habang nabiyahe, but he would always change the topic. We arrived a few minutes before the mass starts. 

Nakahanap kami ng pwesto sa may likuran dahil madami-dami ang sumisimba ngayon at sa likuran na lamang maluwag ang pwesto. Umupo kami sa tabi ng dalawang matanda, mukhang mag-asawa ang mga ito dahil nakaupo ito habang magkahawak ang kanilang mga kamay. 

The mass started and I tried to get my focus sa sinasabi ng pari pero paano ko yun magagawa eh may gwapo akong katabi. At yung mga teenagers na nasa likod namin ay mukhang napopogian din kay Nate, rinig ko ang mga bulungan. 

"Ang ingay nitong mga bata sa likuran natin ano?" Biglang bulong ni Nate sa kanang tenga ko.

Medyo nagitla ako sa ginawa nito at napalingon ako sa kanya. Wrong move, masyadong malapit ang mukha nito. Mabilis kong ibinalik ang tingin ko sa harapan at tumikhim. 

I can hear him softly chuckle and I looked at him just slightly moving my head towards him. 

"I kinda remember the time when we we're partners. You have that exact face when I whispered to your ear." He said while smiling. 

"Wha-" Itatanong ko pa sana kung anong face ang sinasabi niya nang biglang marinig ko ang hudyat para lumuhod. 

I feel a bit weird with our elbows touching while kneeling. Hindi naman sa hindi pa ako nakakatabi sa lalaki dati pero alam mo yun kakaiba ang feeling kapag si Nate yung katabi ko. I feel my stomach is churning in a good way. We stand and the homily started I tried to focus but I cannot. 

The peace be with you time begin and both Nate and I both greeted each other first then we turn around to greet the old couple. Both they were hugging each other and kiss each other's cheeks. It felt romantic, even though both are old they still show their affection to one another. They turned to us and greeted us both Nate and I smiled at them. 

The mass ended and while everyone was going out I took a sit and stared in front. Before I can even blacked everything out para magmuni-muni, Nate also took a sit and snugged close to me. "Tayong dalawa na lang ang nandito sa pwesto natin, bakit kailangan sisiksik ka pa?" Nagtatakang tanong ko sa kanya. 

"Malamig." Seryosong sabi nito habang nakatingin sa harapan. Natawa ako sa sinabi niya, I don't know why. Maybe by the way he said it in a serious face or the fact that he looks kinda cute when he snugged beside me. 

Tumayo ako at hinarap siya, "Sa'yo ba uli ako sasakay pauwi?" Tanong ko 

"Of course, gabi na mahirap mag-commute. But before I take you home can I take out for dinner first?" He asked like he was anticipating for me to say yes. 

I kinda want to accept his offer but I feel like it won't be good for my heart. I still don't know what game he is playing and I don't want games. 

"Sorry pero iniintay ako ni Jeuliette sa bahay, sabi ko kasi pagka-simba ko ay uuwi na ako. Ako kasi ang bibili ng pagkain namin ngayong gabi." I answered which is totoo naman dahil kailangan ko bumili ng hapunan namin ngayon. 

"Ok lang I can wait for you , where do you plan to buy the food?" He asked. 

"D'yan lang sa may labasan." Sagot ko and he stand up and started to walk. 

I found myself staring at him while he walks away. 

I saw him stopped walking like he forgot something, looked back, smiled and called me. "Yannha." 

Hearing him say my name made my heart skip a bit. 

Shemay, Yannha ano yun?!
