MEDUSA'S COMPASS.

1774, SEPTEMBER 22nd THURSDAY 9:55pm.

Nearly two hours later, Medusa and her generals met in the VR room. The room simulated a holographic compass on the floor. Medusa placed herself in the center as each general stood on one of the points. Instead of saying North, South, East, and West... These points instead had the symbol of horseman. Dreg stood on war, Salt stood on fury, Rust stood on famine, and Trio on Death.

"WHAT IN THE?" Medusa shouted.

"Who-zh whasht it?!" Rust blurted.

Dreg raised an eyebrow.

Salt looked at the other four and all around appeared to be confused.

"Wait a minute... If we're the four horsemen, then whose Satan?" Trio asked.

Without missing a beat, the Grave brothers entered the VR room. Trio didn't even turn around as she broke out with a smile.

"Why does that not surprise me." She said.

"Sorry. So sorry. We were playing around with the coding." Blue said.

"We wanted to see what the floor would look like, if people actually took us seriously." Red said.

Medusa rolled her eyes

Medusa rolled her eyes. She wanted to strangle them, but this was not the time.

"With everyone here, let's begin." Medusa said, "I'll be frank. The United Government intends to give our jobs to the PLC."

Everyone but Medusa and the Grave Brothers nodded their heads.

"We need to win back their trust..." She said, "There is only one thing I can think of... We need to begin re-establishing control in MoveCity."

Medusa prepared herself for-

"WHAT?!" The Grave Brothers shouted.

Yep. That.

"MoveCity is the ONLY place in the world where Create is truly free!" Red said.

"The entire WORLD fears Create. They think Cross can no longer contain it."

"We shouldn't be containing it to begin with!"

Medusa chose to ignore this first outburst.

"MoveCity, and its chaos, has always been the STRONGEST ARGUMENT against us." Medusa said, "If we demonstrate our control of MoveCity, then it'll weaken the PLC."

"ABSOLUTELY NOT!" Both Grave Brothers shouted, "Create deserves freedom too!"

Medusa chose NOT to ignore this second.

"This isn't a debate!" She shouted.

"You still owe us!" Red said, "When Ezekiel died, you were gone for an entire year! Dreg was gone for five, Rust was in mourning, and Salt was still a kid!"

"We had to run Cross that entire time," Blue said, "With only Trio to help us."

"Let us say that again, with TRIO!" Red said.

Everyone turned to Trio, who was picking her nose.

"... I wasn't paying attention." Trio said.

"All we've EVER ASKED was freedom for Create." Red said.

"Aside from Rust, Cross no longer has kill chips in its leaders." Blue said, "WHY MUST WE OBEY THEM!"

"WE DON'T!" Medusa yelled.

For a moment, the room went silent. Medusa knew her temper was short today.

"We don't obey them, we work together." Medusa said, "Even if we defeated them and took over, what would that change? Create would still be seen as a stigma. Even more-so."

"But it would be FREE."

"FOR HOW LONG?!" Medusa shouted, "... If you REALLY want Create to be free... Then people need to respect it... They need to respect us. To trust us."

Medusa turned to face Dreg.

"Which brings us back to our main point. MoveCity is in a state where civil war can erupt at any moment. We need to prevent that." Medusa said, "Which is why I'm sending Dreg to MoveCity for a visit."

Medusa knew many people had trouble reading Dreg's face. He had a resting poker-scowl, as she called it. However, she could read it easily... And he was NOT happy.

"Oh suck a dick Dreg. If you don't like it, then next time, don't get sloppy ON THE FUCKING NEWS!" Medusa said, "MEETING GOD-DAMN ADJOURNED!"

About an hour passed since Medusa held the meeting. After ripping Dreg a new one, she went back to the office to chip away at the paperwork HIS actions had caused. However, something felt wrong. It wasn't until said hour had passed did it occur to her what was wrong.

"He didn't say anything." She thought.

Sure, he chose to speak as little as possible... But in a situation like this he would at least say something.

"Maybe... I went a bit too far."

The thought echoed in her mind as she tried to do paperwork... But it started to grow louder and louder until it was too distracting. Medusa sighed as she put down her pen. She decided to go check on him.

It didn't take long to find Dreg. He was sitting in the gymnasium. Only she could tell that this dignified powerful human being, was pouting like a boy. He wasn't even on the bleachers, he was just sitting on the floor. Throwing a baseball against the wall and picking it up when it rolled back.

One of his tosses went awry and the ball rolled halfway back to him before stopping; he sighed. Medusa walked over to him, stopping only to stare at training dummies wearing a baseball-mit. Dreg stood up, but didn't turn to face her.

"Elizabeth." He said.

His tone was the same as always. Neutral. But she could tell he was annoyed.

"Lion." She said.

Her tone, while softer, still had a bit of harshness in it.

"You know how I feel about that lizard." Dreg said.

Medusa closed her eyes and sighed as she lowered her head.

"I understand... But this needs to be done properly." She said, "And despite recent events, you're still the person I trust most."

Dreg turned to face her; he sighed. "... I know."

Medusa walked over to the ball, picked it up, and arched it over to Dreg. He caught it easily as Medusa walked over to the glove and put it on.

"Remember when we were recruits?" She said, "Playing baseball on the track field."

"Envious days." He said.

"Maybe we'll get the chance once more." She said, "One day..."

Dreg smiled. Medusa knew those were reserved for only special moments.

"Dream big." He said.

Dreg tossed the ball back to Medusa who caught it in the mitt. She bounced it in her palm two times, before placing it back in the mitt. She gave Dreg a meaningful glance, before she took off the mitt, and walked towards the exit.

"Thanks for visiting." Dreg said.

"My pleasure."

And with that, feeling cold, Medusa went back to office.
